Mouthfeel is light, which opens into a burst of dark spicy roasted agave on the tongue, with notes of burnt caramel and bittersweet orange rind. Very spicy and very smoky. Finish is long and medium hot, woody and tingly, with a nice warm after-finish that goes down deep and just keeps giving back. There is a uniquely sharp, smoky barreliness to this anejo that would seem to pair itself well with a good cigar. Delicious. ]]> Tue, 15 Jul 2014 22:35:55 +0000 <![CDATA[7 Leguas Tequila Anejo: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=2456 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=2456 This anejo was a little lighter color than most others. It had some good agave and wood aromas and flavors. A sweeter entry and then a flavor blast and good hot finish. That is what I like in my tequilas. i didn't know about the whole patron thing above. That is interesting. ]]> Mon, 07 May 2012 04:04:45 +0000 <![CDATA[7 Leguas Tequila Anejo: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=2321 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=2321 I bought this at the recommendation of the good folks on this site and they picked a winner. Aroma: Sweet and spicy. Nice agave and spice nose. Initial Taste: Sweet on the tip of the tongue with a bit of sizzle as it moves on your palate. Body: The wood and spice notes make this tequila really complex and enjoyable. There's also hints of vanilla and roasted nuts. Lots of flavors mixing...and doing it very well. Finish: The spices really linger nicely for a long finish that reminds you of how good this tequila really is. I'd recommend it to anyone. The price is fair in the $45-50 range and the bottle is nice, but the screw top takes away from the presentation. ]]> Tue, 28 Feb 2012 05:59:39 +0000 <![CDATA[7 Leguas Tequila Anejo: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=1396 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=1396 Bought 3/2/10, paid $55. Had 2 oz from a tall shot glass and then another 2 :). First off let me say the bottle is a bit of a let down when compared to other quality anejo's. Color is a light straw, not near as dark as I would have expected for 24 months in the barrel. The nose is sweet, a bit of caramel, floral nothing overpowering. When sipped, holds nicely on the tongue and the true nature of this tequila comes to life, very complex, way more flavor here than you can catch in a couple of oz's. Leaves a nice burnt almond taste in the mouth after awhile, very smooooooth. Has a nice body and full bodied finish, will leave you asking for more! What a great surprise, the time in the barrel was not lost on the agave, many time the agave will take on the character of the barrel and the agave is lost over time. In fact this is the "Forrest Gump" of anejo's... you'll pick up something new every time you taste it. Don't be fouled by a so so bottle, it does seal completely btw, like all good things, it is whats inside that counts. enjoy... ]]> Tue, 02 Mar 2010 22:25:13 +0000 <![CDATA[7 Leguas Tequila Anejo: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=1394 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=1394 I am drinking this out of a snifter on a warm and mellow evening, in Hollywood, California. When I first opened this bottle of Añejo, I noticed the cap did not seem to be on in an air tight manner. The bottle and cheap plastic cap do not impress me. Rather, it hurts the over all presentation, and that is why I have scored it a 79/100 The nose on this tequila is very sweet with a good measure of alcohol burn. I will go as far as saying it is a bit too sweet. The initial taste is honestly strange. It comes off both super sweet and a bit stringent. I held it in my mouth for a bit to soften the flavor and to try to decipher its body. The agave gets lost in the sweet air that this light tequila holds. It does have a strong binding to the glass, but flows over the taste buds in an overtly sweet hue of alcohol burn. A bit of vanilla, earth and pepper are to be found on the main flavor stage. The Bottle, and its presentation is weak. The plastic top barely screws on and I feel there is an inadequate seal. I do not think this will keep well on a shelf after opening. The bottle design is not the worst, but in addition to the plastic cap, its over all presentation falls way short of acceptable. This Tequila's finish is not very memorable and does not elicit drinking-excitement from me. Over all, this Anejo is average and falls under the "extra" sweet category. I would not serve this to a friend who was interested in developing an interest in fine Añejo tequilas. ]]> Mon, 01 Mar 2010 05:33:01 +0000 <![CDATA[7 Leguas Tequila Anejo: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=1284 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=1284 Overall, this anejo came through as a very pleasant surprise. The initial tasting was a very rich experience. Among our group of "50 somethings" tequila drinkers, we have reached a consensus that this is a very complex and exciting tequila to sip. We have sampled several different bottles of this label and found variations of the overall taste. Very aromatic with a hint of earthiness and floral, teases a sense of vanilla at times. Very good for the price in its market, could use a little adjustment to the bottling, maybe a cork. Aroma: Floral, berries, and a mild earthiness Taste: Light at room temp, with very little bitterness (just ask the women) Body: Complex and probably not for the beginners Smoothness: Very light taste that does not linger and finishes with a very subtle warmth ]]> Sat, 10 Oct 2009 18:50:44 +0000 <![CDATA[7 Leguas Tequila Anejo: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=1176 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=1176 Very nice anejo. In the nose I picked up strong vanilla, slight floral, a hint of perfume, and even a little touch of bazooka bubble gum/sweetness. Flavor is a bit more complex than many anejos, and a good balance of agave and oak. Can't put my finger on it, but just not overly impressed despite the complexity and decent balance. Presentation is pretty boring, and I don't like the plastic screw-on top they use. Maybe I'm just picky but I prefer a cork. I paid $43.99 for this bottle in NY. For that price it's a very good value. ]]> Tue, 16 Jun 2009 23:09:37 +0000 <![CDATA[7 Leguas Tequila Anejo: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=1032 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=1032 Tasted in a snifter glass coating the glass. 7 Leguas Anejo Color: glimmering brown Aroma: butter popcorn, wood and agave Taste: spicy butterscotch, agave and very little wood with medium oil mouthfeel and a smooth spicy finish At a Tequila tasting in Mexico the presenter mentioned the 7 Leguas as his top anejo. A pretty darn good anejo with a taste all its own. 7 Leguas is a very unique tequila and one of my favorites. The presentation is pretty darn cool too. Not one I'd recommend to beginners( I think it would be too complex for a new tequila drinker), yet something I'd recommend to an aficionado! Aroma: A semi intense aroma of floral, berry and vanilla. Initial Taste: A thin mouth feel, it was sweet with low bitterness. Body: A nice woody agave with hints of smoke, vanilla, earth, and spice. A pretty complex body if u ask me! Finish: A lightly heated finish of short duration with a lingering aftertaste of earth, and vanilla. ]]> Tue, 20 Jan 2009 20:39:11 +0000 <![CDATA[7 Leguas Tequila Anejo: ]]> https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=428 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=428 7 Leguas Anejo NOM 1120 Tasted on 4/20/07 at 6:30pm. I tried this tequila, which cost me $12, at Zocalo and tasted it in a snifter. With a yellow golden color, this tequila has intense aromas of floral and vanilla. Other aromas include moderate fruit with mild caramel. The tequila has a heavy mouth feel and on the first sip is sweet with a hint of bitterness. 7 Leguas Anejo has numerous arrays of flavors due to its 24 months of aging. Intense flavors of earth and floral are followed by moderate notes of agave. With a medium duration of flavor, tastes of mild fruit and caramel with a hint of smoke bring this tequila to a subtle numbing finish. 7 Leguas Anejo has received the rating of 91 points out of 100. ]]> Fri, 21 Dec 2007 16:12:56 +0000
