Milagro Select Barrel Reserve Reposado

Milagro Select Barrel Reserve Reposado Tequila is made from 100% estate grown blue agave harvested from the highlands of Jalisco that are hand-picked and hand-selected for quality based on the highest criteria. The heart of the blue agave is roasted in clay ovens made from the same volcanic rich soil where the blue agave flourishes in Jalisco, Mexico. Our triple distillation process produces tequila of extraordinary depth and character for unparalleled smoothness. Milagro Select Barrel Reserve Reposado is aged 10 months in new French single oak barrels and comes in a unique hand-blown crystal bottle.

Tasted in a rocks glass on May 8, 2008 sticking to the side of the glass with fat lasting legs.

Milagro Reposado Select

Color: light golden hue
Aroma: spice, smoke
Taste: wood & honey with a light/medium mouthfeel and hot finish

I did not feel this is as smooth as advertised. For a reposado I would of like to have a little heavier body and a smoother less hot finish. Even with the amazing bottle, my three favorite reposado at the time of this writing have to be Sol Azul, Casa Noble & Corralejo.

Milagro's Select Barrel Repo. is a nice addition to the Milagro Family, but the aroma is rather pungent, way too strong, the alcohol fumes are just seeping through the cork, even after i let it breathe for 10 minutes, the nose was just as strong, this automatically put my senses into high defensive gear, practically not letting finish me finish the tasting, but i toughed it out, once over the initial smell, the initial taste was a little more pleasant, it was hard to savor it at first, but once it sat in my mouth for a few secs, i let it run down it's natural course, the body was full of different flavors with hints of vanilla, coffee, pepper, smoke, and a rather chalky dry finish, it was easy to understand why my dad like this tequila for when he was a cold, it soothes that crap out of a soar throat, the presentation, i think we can all agree on, it's simply beautiful, but you know what they say, you can't judge a book by it's cover.

This is an excellent reposado! The bottle is hand-blown crystal and looks absolutely gorgeous. The aroma hints of caramel. The initial taste is medium bodied and smooth. The body is full and surprisingly complex to my palate! The finish is clean and lingers just the right amount of time. Excellent mouth feel! The price can be steep if you don't know where to look or have not greased the right wheels, but again, the bottle is art and looks very prestigious sitting on my shelf. Highly recommended!

I had never tasted tequilla because I had always heard tequilla had a bitter taste and burned when swallowed. While aboard the Splendour of the Sea cruise ship I was given a sample by the gentleman working in the liquor store, Ciprian, and it was wonderful. Didn't burn going down, wasn't bitter, tasted great! I don't know what the price of this tequilla is, as I didn't purchase it, I was given a shot.
