Tequila Review Brand:
NOM: 1416 Distillery: Productos Finos de Agave, S.A. de C.V. Web Site: http://www.tequilaspremium.com Tequila Clase Azul ReposadoClase Azul is an ultra premium, 100% Weber Blue Agave, Reposado Tequila. Clase Azul tequila is the perfect marriage between the finest Tequila and a beautiful handcrafted, hand-painted Talavera carafe. It is produced and bottled in the Jesus Maria region of Arandas, Jalisco, MX from 100% Tequilana Weber Agave. Clase Azul is aged for a minimum of eight months in small oak barrels. We are using a blend of Bourbon, Cognac, and Sherry casks in the aging process. This aging period and the use of these different barrels differentiates Clase Azul and gives it an award winning taste profile. It has distinct, smooth flavors and aromas, as well as an excellent balance over the palate. The bottle style is called "Talavera", which was introduced to Mexico by Spanish artisans of the Colonial period. Known as "majolica" in Spain. User reviews

May 30, 2007 Written by ZocaloJoe - View all my reviews - Top 100 Reviewer I think this is a great value tequila and love tasting people on it. The Clase Azul Ultra on the other hand is not the best value...but you gotta love the packaging. The first time I tasted the Ultra (at the launch party in SF) I grabbed it on accident thinking it was the Repo. It was richer, and more complex but not worth the 2K you're looking at spending. It is something worth adding to your collection, especially cause the 50 allocated to the U.S. is all sold out!

April 07, 2007 Written by chekm8 - View all my reviews - Top 50 Reviewer Clase Azul is made by Productos Finos de Agave in Los Altos de Jalisco. I had read that the original bottling of this tequila was done by La Cofradia of Casa Noble fame but now Productos Finos has their own plant since 1996. A buttery smooth repo with a caramel overtone and hints of vanilla spice. If you like the agave taste of reposados you will probably not like this one as it drinks much more like a great anejo than a repo. A terrificly smooth tequila that I can't wait to drink more of. A few more notes: They use stone ovens and double distill. Aging is in oak barrels but haven't found out if they are new or charred.
