Tequila Gran Centenario Plata

Unique among Plata Tequilas, Gran Centenario Plata rests for 28 days in French Limousin oak barrels to soften the spirit's edges and achieve exception. Aromas of lime, citrus and pear are apparent in this Tequila. An herbal note with a spicy pepper hint is balanced with an agave aroma and underlying earthy tone.

Its smooth and clean profile makes it the quintessential Tequila for mixing in cocktails and enjoying straight in a snifter.

Hmm, I can say I wasnt that impressed with this bottle.

Aroma: peppery agave
Initial taste: mild alcohol burn
Body: Nice balanced agave flavor, earthy, peppery
Finish: short , mild alcohol burn. very short

A decent tequila, but not a favorite of mine at all. I probably wouldnt get another bottle.

Gran Centenario Plata Tequila Blanco, NOM 1122. This tequila is aged for one month as opposed to other blancos being bottled immediately after distillation. Very light yellowish/green color with nice long legs, a spicy nose of earth, & slight alcohol. The initial taste is spicy sweet with herbal undertones, slight alcohol, & an aged quality which becomes, strangely enough, more apparent in a Margarita rather than straight up. This tequila has a light medium body with the sweet spiciness continuing all the way to the finish where a nice open, numbing effect envelopes the entire tongue. GC Plata is smooth but not quite as smooth as other premium blancos that I've tasted. This is due mainly in part to the very slight, but not at all unattractive, alcohol effect. Not as fine as GC Reposado. Great price. Not quite top shelf. B/B+

Gran Centenario Silver NOM 1122 Tasted 12/20/06. With a clear color with a slight yellow hue, Gran Centenario Silver has an intense aroma of floral scents. Less apparent are moderate spice and fruit with mild earth and smoke aromas. Upon initial taste, the tequila has a thin mouth feel and is soft and mellow on the tip of the tongue. Moderate flavors of spice, agave, and earth accents are followed by mild floral, fruit, and smoke flavors. The finish consists of a slightly numbing and tingly alcohol intensity and a short to medium duration of flavor. I rate this tequila at the B range.
