El Espolon Anejo Tequila

El Espolon Anejo Tequila - This excellent Tequila has been aged twelve months in white-oak barrels, during which time the spirit acquires delicate hints of vanilla and butterscotch in addition to the other flavors of ripened agave and warm earth. Characterized by its deep, golden color, Espolon Anejo delivers an unrivaled smoothness and flavor for the most distinguishing palate.

Espolon Anejo NOM 1440 Tasted 2/19/07. The tequila is a dark golden yellow color. Beginning with intense caramel and floral aromas, the deeper aromas include moderate vanilla and mild fruity scents. On the tip of the tongue there is a mellow and soft sensation that is followed by a low sweetness and low bitter taste. Upon tasting, the tequila has intense agave, floral, and earth with mild fruit, vanilla, and smoke flavors. Espolon Anejo tequila finishes with a medium-to-short duration of flavor and tingly alcohol intensity. Overall, I rate this tequila at the B+ level.
