El Charro Anejo

Just as 'El Charro' celebrates the fine art of horsemanship and proud traditions of Mexico's past, so this distinctive Tequila represents the pinnacle of the distiller's art. Hand crafted from individually selected Blue Agave cultivated in the highlands of Jalisco, El Charro Añejo is created and aged in small batches using traditional methods to produce the 'perfect balance' of wood aging and the Blue Agave. It is aged over two years in oak barrels and presented in a beautiful 'art deco' bottle to please the most delicate preference.

El Charro Anejo is a deep golden color, woody nose with hints of cinnamon and fruit. The initial taste is a sweet and fruity blast through the mouth, with a complex body, sharp alcohol turning to wood and spice with citrus undertones. The finish mellows and turns into a long spicy cinnamon aftertaste with a slight heat in the mouth.

El Charro Anejo NOM 1460 Tasted 2/16/07. The tequila is a golden brown color and has intense fruit and earth aromas. Once you get past the intensity of the nose, you can smell moderate notes of caramel and smoke. On the tip of the tongue the tequila is mellow and soft but yet has a full intensity of taste and feels heavy and oily in the mouth. While the tequila has a low sweetness, it is actually has no bitterness. Now onto flavor. The flavor has intense agave, and floral attributes which are followed by moderate fruit and mild vanilla, smoke, earth, and caramel. The tequilas finish is a long duration of flavor followed by a numbing alcohol feeling. Overall, I rated this tequila at the A/A- level.
