I'm very glad that I started drinking tequila with Sauza gold instead of Jose Cuervo... Sauza gold is a great starter for anyone interested in tequila on a budget. For its incredibly low price, this tequila tastes great shotted, mixed, and even sipped. I am very happy with the value i can get out of it and will probably almost always resort to Sauza when supplying drinks for parties or mixing.
Between a trip to San Miguel de Allende, GTO, MX last week & Cinco de Mayo the other day, I've got some catch-up reviewing to do.
Gold is gold but this one is better than Joe Crow or @ least this is how I see most Sauza products compared to Cuervo. The weak agave nose laced with alcohol progressed into a semi-sweet tasting spirit with hints of wood, more alcohol, & some vanilla. This all resulted in a medium body with a short finish. Sauza Gold is reasonably smooth, it's greatest attribute. Not a bad, inexpensive mixer.
For a $16 bottle of tequila I was very happy with the pick my wife made.I had asked her to get me a bottle of tequila for magaritas.Everyone at the party was commenting on how good the margaritas where. So I will recommend this brand of tequila to all you margrita drinkers.
