Maestro Dobel Diamond Tequila Rings in the New Year with Expanded Distribution and Dazzling Cocktails

Maestro Dobel – the world’s first-ever, clear-aged diamond tequila – has much to celebrate in 2009.  As a result of the success and acclaim this luxury, silver-aged tequila achieved in the four months since it launched in parts of California, Illinois, Georgia and Wisconsin, Maestro Dobel will also be available in New York, Massachusetts, Florida, Texas, Colorado, Washington D.C. and Nevada beginning in March of 2009.

With New Year’s celebrations quickly approaching, Maestro Dobel offers fabulous cocktails to sparkle your holiday celebrations.  This clear spirit’s exceptional blend of Extra-Anejo, Anejo and Reposado tequilas can be judged - like a diamond - by four C’s.  Mixologist Pablo Moix of STK LA, inspired by Maestro Dobel’s four C’s, interpreted each one as its own cocktail, which you’ll find below.

As you’re preparing your stories for the winter and into the spring, please keep Maestro Dobel in mind.

Cheers!

The Maestro Dobel Team

Complexity:  The incredible complexity of Maestro Dobel stems from the incredible array of differently aged tequilas in the blend: Reposado (rested 15 months), Anejo (rested 24 months), and Extra-Anejo (rested for 36 months).

The Maestro Mixer

5 white grapes
8-10 mint leaves
2 oz Maestro Dobel Tequila
¾ oz Aperol
½ oz lemon juice
¾ oz simple syrup
1 oz ginger ale

In a pint glass, add mint and grapes and muddle. Add all spirits and mixers. Shake vigorously for six seconds. Add ginger ale to pint glass, then strain over fresh ice in Collins glass. Garnish with a mint sprig dusted with powdered sugar and a white grape.

Crispness:  The agave selected for Maestro Dobel grows in the volcanic lowlands of the Jalisco region, producing a tequila with lighter herbal and citrus aromas.  This hand-selected agave, combined with the tequila’s double distillation in post stills creates an exceptionally crisp tequila.

Dobel Spicy Chill

4 basil leaves
1 Serrano chili slice 1/4" thick
2 oz Maestro Dobel Tequila
¾ oz lime juice
¾ oz simple syrup

In a pint glass, crack the chili  with a muddler.  Add basil, then muddle or bruise. Add all spirits and mixers. Shake and strain in a cocktail glass. Garnish with a Serrano chili slice and a basil sprig.

Craftsmanship:  Juan Dobel has enlisted the Tequila Maestros – Marco Anguiano and Luis Yerenas – to create the special blend for Dobel.  Every step of the process is crafted by hand – from the harvesting of the agave to the blending of the tequilas.

Crafty Maestro

1 red bell pepper ring 1/2" thick
8-10 mint leaves
2 oz Maestro Dobel Tequila
¾ oz lime juice
¾ oz simple syrup

In a pint glass, muddle bell pepper ring and mint. Add all spirits and mixers. Shake vigorously for six seconds. Strain in cocktail glass. To garnish, drop a bell pepper ring in cocktail glass and a mint sprig.

Clarity:  The proprietary filtering system used by Maestro Dobel gently expels congeners and colors from the tequila, producing the “Diamond Clarity” without having an affect on aroma, flavor or complexity.

Maestro’s Moment of Clarity

2 oz Maestro Dobel Tequila
¾ oz simple syrup
2 oz dashed Regan’s orange bitters

In a pint glass, add all spirits and mixers. With a bar spoon stir for 20-30 sec. Strain into a cocktail glass. For garnish: with a potato peeler, peel a large piece of orange peel and drop in cocktail.
