I found Luna just as they opened the doors about 1 year ago and I keep coming back. The food is Old School Mexican with a modern twist and it's great. They make the best Mole' I've had in years. My wife and I have visited here more than 10 times eating at the bar and in the dining room and have never been disappointed by the food or service. The food prices range from $10 to $30, a good value for any Mexican Restaurant.

The Tequila selection is amazing. I would guess 50 to 100 different selections. the owners are well versed in Agave Spirits and they share their knowledge with the staff. On several occasions one of the staff or owners will make a recommendation on a Tequila I haven't tried and they hit a home run every time. And yes they make killer Margaritas.

This is high end gourmet Mexican food, hot, fresh and lots of it. I had the seafood burrito, and my wife had a salmon filet.
The portions were very big, and neither of us could finish our meals.
The tequila selection was massive; there wasn't a brand that I could think of that they didn't have. When I was admiring the selection, they immediately tried to up sell me with the Herradura Selection Suprema. Gil, our waiter was very knowledgeable and informative with all the selection of tequila that they had.

Our food, a glass of Casta Rep, 2 for 1 margaritas, and tip was 1,000 pesos for lunch.

Great selection - especially for the Midwest! Tried several great tequilas here. I was quite a bit more knowledgable than the bartender about tequila (not uncommon), but that actually worked in my favor - after ordering a shot of El Tesoro Paradiso for $30 (if memory serves me well) she poured me about three shots into a regular sized glass! She said for that price, and because she had to climb high up on the bar to get it, she'd hook me up! I also got an El Tesoro shot glass, which was a nice touch.

Best tequila place I've found in Grand Rapids, MI for sure!

The smaller selection, I could live with (after all, there's no way that I could sample even 30 brands), but with that smaller selection came a higher price, and no specials like Maria's Flight of 3 Tequilas for $14. My biggest disappointment was when I ordered a Corralejo Reposado, and the server didn't know what it was, whereas at Maria's, even though there was a 30 minute wait for a table, the server not only took the time to explain the differences between Blancos and Reposados and Anejos, he also provided his favorite choices at my request. Because Juan Jaime's is in my neighborhood, I took a friend, and expected our visit to be an occasion. But between the overpriced (but good) food and the shaky service, I won't become a regular.

Their tequila list is pretty decent although you're not going to find anything out of the ordinary. The food is pretty good too.

For a downtown bar, it's one of my favorite joints. Most visitors here don't come for the tequila, so be prepared for the "vodka Redbull" and "Bud Lite" crowd if you go on the weekend. Other than that, it's a fun place. They usually have some luchador movies playing on the TVs which adds to the ambiance.

Another note: don't expect to get great advice from the bartenders. After having various conversations with the guys behind the bar, I've usually found them to be a) wrong, b) confused, or c) not very big fans of tequila. My advice is just to grab the menu and start picking out a juice you've never had before.

If you go on a Monday, I'll come say hi. You'll probably be the only other one there drinking straight tequila out of a snifter.

Yes that does sound $$$$$$, but I get double shot of aneo and add G M to top and the pours where free pours! Fantasic! The only food I have had there is their pizza by the slice, I'm from NY, Buffalo and the pizza was awesome, they have fresh basil, sun dried tomatoes, basically anything you want

they have an unseen collection for belgian (or to my knowledge european) standards.

normally they carry the line blanco-reposado-añejo for their products which sometimes makes for a nice tasting experience.

also you get decent information, they even have three books that give you adequate information on their products.

sure, it's not that cheap, but as i put it before, it's a real treat in a country where it's hard to come by a decent bottle of tequila!!

The moment you come down the stairs you enter an upscale and comfortable library like setting, as the walls are lined with beautiful wooden lockers that contain countless handcrafted tequilas on display. Scattered throughout this swanky atmosphere, are many dark leather couches so you can almost kick back to unwind and relax, as this bar knows how to set the stage to experience high end tequilas and cocktails.

The warmth of this establishment is mirrored by the management, bartenders and staff as they are almost more inviting than the atmosphere itself. You will be well taken care of as they work with you to recommend tequilas and mixed drinks based on questions to understand what flavors you enjoy as well as the mood you are in. I have never experienced anything like this and I’m no amateur when it comes to the finer tequilas or mixing a fine drink. Included in this experience is a “tequila librarian” named Courtenay Greenleaf, which I would say should be referred to as a tequila sommelier. Her in-depth knowledge of the agave spirit, from the harvest, through all the various production methods, is quite impressive.

This place is a “must see” as it will not disappoint. My only fear is that it will get too crowded to enjoy as I am seeing it gain in popularity. Don’t forget to order some of the fine Latin Asian appetizers and other fusion cuisine items on their menu that is available at the bar as well as upstairs at Zengos hit restaurant, as well.

Shipping it in makes it even more expensive, and it's not a winning combination. All the major brands are covered, as well as a few smaller brands that they can get in Chicago at the sister bar, and transfer down. The bar manager Juan knows his tequilas, and distributes a nice pour.

Food here is very good, it's a bit upscale, mostly authentic Mexican. The fish taco's and the shrimp enchiladas are personal favorites on the menu. Prices are very reasonable for dinner, and happy hour the fish taco's are a buck a piece.

Building isn't much from the outside, but inside the ambiance is very well done.

This places frustrates me. It has so much going for it, but doesn't quite ever pull it off.

The selection is probably the second-best in town (after Trébol), and while some of the more interesting selections are often out of stock, that's likely the result of our screwy state-controlled liquor system, so I don't blame Matador for that.

The ambiance is also cool - if a bit Disney-ish. The wood and iron fixtures are beautiful and the Southwest motif more tastefully done that it could have been.

The food is OK, but just OK considering how many incredible restaurants we're lucky to have in Portland.

Prices are fair - especially on the tequila and in particular their flights. The extra-añejo flight is a great bargain and recommended before you drop the kind of coin bottles of 1942 et al require.

The real shortcoming of this place, and it's huge, is the tequila knowledge and service. They have revolving door-like staff turnover, and the waitstaff never seem very experienced. Any intelligent question about the agave spirits will go unanswered, accompanied by attitude as though they actually gave you a good answer. In the past, I have had to explain and show to a bartender what the NOM number is, what a mixto is (their well is mixto and their "Cadillac" margarita is made with Hornitos), and to a waitress that in fact NOT all tequila is from Tequila. On one recent visit, they couldn't tell my friend which of the 3 tequilas in his flight were which. They were unapologetic, didn't offer to replace it and seemed generally confused about why he would care.

Sadly, it is still one of our only tequila options in town. Most nights, I'd rather stay home. Or drink wine.

Wausau, Wisconsin is certainly not where we would have expected to find one of the best Mexican restaurants around. The food is all freshly prepared and well presented by some of the most courteous and knowledgeble wait staff we have experienced anywhere. The selection is authentic "Mexican" fare and is moderately priced. Portions are very adequate and the variety of salsas offered is vast, including my favorite chili morita. The carnitas served with sweet onions, warm tortillas, cilantro and warm green sauce is outstanding. Another favorite is the chimichanga stuffed with grilled shrimp, onions, tomatoes and peppers which is covered with an excellent light cheese sauce. It is served with rice, lettuce and pico de gallo. A side of freshly made guacamole is also a nice addition.

Considering the location is in a small strip mall, the ambiance is very good. When it is very busy the open ceiling and attached bar can result in a less than quiet dining experience but it is not bad nor does it distract from the meal. They offer outdoor seating when the weather is cooperative.

We have been back literally dozens of times and have never been disappointed. And if something is not what you expect, we know you can tell them about it and you will be satisfied. Their tequila selection is hard to match anywhere and the margaritas are outstanding with "twofers" frequently offered.
You need not be in Mexico or the Southwest to enjoy fine Mexican fare. And did I mention the staff? Again, sure I did and I will say it once more "they are outstanding!!"

Excellent restaurant and staff. Good, quality food at reasonable prices. Large quantity of tequilas with very knowledgeable staff to assist. A "must" when visiting San Diego. However, plan ahead. We tried to get in on a Friday evening and the wait was 45 to 60 minutes. Came back for lunch the next day and were not disappointed.

I think I have finally found it in Dos Amigos. My partner and I have eaten there twice in the short time we have known about the place. It was formerly El Centro, but has been re-opened under new owners as Dos Amigos since April 2010. And what they have created with their menu is great! We've had taquitos, a chorizo and spinach dish, ribs with kumara wedges, a chicken burrito, chimichongas, and tamales. Desserts we've tried were fried ice cream and a dark chocolate tort with a hint of chili. Everything we've had was wonderful. Prices are roughly on par for New Zealand. What gets me is that the value of the food is better than what I have gotten from other Mexican places here.
They have a decent selection of tequila. Not huge, but for New Zealand, definitely more than you see almost anywhere else. There doesn't seem to be a huge knowledge of tequilas, but I think this will be changing. :-) Margaritas are tasty though, with a cadillac marg served with the grand marnier poured into the glass at your table.
The service was quite good, with attentive and friendly staff who greet you in Spanish to create a fun atmosphere. Even the owner will stand out front with a sombrero to greet people. Staff in general know their food menu quite well too.
Ambiance? You can't ask for a better place to be than on the main street in Mission Bay, which is right on the beach. It's a great locale.
I have come to like the place enough that I recently got a job there, trying to help develop Dos Amigo's tequila identity, as a place to come for good Mexican food AND tequila. Call me biased, but it's because of the food and tequila that made me want to be a part of this place. So keep an eye out, the tequila focus will be improving, and it'll be something to look forward to!
At the very least, if you're looking for the best Mexican food in Auckland, you should stop by this place, and don't forget some tequila.
