Default El Tesoro 70th Anniversary

Seth Nadel of Shoppers Vineyard tipped that he will be closing out El Tesoro 70th Anniversary soon at $99 a bottle. Might be worth checking the site periodically.

I received the notification this morning. At $99 a bottle I am picking up a couple.

From Seth at Shoppers Vineyard - "I don't know what it is, but my distributor have been offering me TONS of deals on tequila. It's about time, if you ask me. I can honestly tell you that I think tequila is the most heavily marked up spirit and I have no idea why. It probably has to do with the fancy bottles they put it in, but that's just a personal opinion. Well, you can only do that for so long before the customer stops buying your product. That is exactly what happened with this weeks eLetter item: El Tesoro 70th Aniversario Anejo Tequila.

El Tesoro 70th Aniversario was released almost 2 years ago. My wholesale cost was $150/bottle and I sold it for that price. The major roadblock I ran into was California retailers were selling it for $130/bottle. Since California is closer to Mexico than New Jersey, there costs were lower. As a result, I barely sold any. I understand. Why pay $150 when you can pay $130? No big deal. I just didn't buy much. However, my distributor had a problem. They had a bunch of cases that just weren't selling. Every few months they would ask me to buy some cases and every time I would tell them "No". It's phenomenal tequila, but it was just too expensive. I did tell them I would consider buying their remaining cases if they lowered the price. They actually said to me, "We don't have to lower the price. They will eventually sell." Ok.

Well, I guess it didn't sell because they just came to me with a great close-out price. Remember, my wholesale cost was $150/bottle. I'm going to close-out the El Tesoro 70th for $99/bottle. I wouldn't buy it for $150/bottle and I wouldn't buy it for $130/bottle. I would buy it for $99/bottle and I know you will, too. It's the cheapest price you will see on the web!"

I agree. I thought the story was marketing as I guess it should be. I went for the price.

I know you might find it hard to believe, but that story is 100% true. But the price is the most important part of the story.

Hehe...

Whatever is left after the sale I'll take for half price. I've been wanting to try the 70th for a long time...its never been near my price range but its closer now.

I still do not think that tequila is marked up because of fancy bottling. Some products are but the process in making tequila is very extensive and each company has a unique way of bringing it to the table. But your in a room of tequila adcovates....the stories dont attract us, but the good prices sure do.

Unfortunately, that is my wholesale cost and I can't go below $99. However, I did get a few more cases of Tezon Reposado if you are interested. I can't feature it on the web for less than $19.99, but if you want to order some I can give it to you for $14.99/bottle. I will just adjuct the price on my end.

Now that is a deal that is not refusable. I will hopefully be able to make an order by next friday (payday). Dont go sellin out on me ;-)

Will Shoppers Vineyard be interested in cutting down shipping costs to tequila.net members? That would be even more amazing and would allow me to purchase more.

Salud!

Working on shipping costs might be a little difficult. You wouldn't believe what these shipping companies charge us. However, I will always work with price where I can. It would be the same, actually. You would get a discount on the tequila as opposed to the shipping.

I wouldn't wait on the Tezon, though. You can always put the order through but tell customer service not to charge you until next week. Just a suggestion.
