The 2007 Tequila Festival and Expo is returning to Tijuana, BC MX on October 12 thru 14 at Ave. Revolution. The festival is an exciting and culturally intense event because its main focus is on educating visitors on tasting and sorting out the many different types of Tequila in Mexico.
The event web site is: http://expo-tequila.com/index/ (spanish only) Five Star Tours has several options starting from the Old Town Transit center just in case you don't want to drive across the border for the event. Their web site is: http://bajatours.org/m_26.asp |

We went to TJ last year and had a great time. They are moving it back to Revolution this year, so that should be good. We are staying at the new Marriott in downtown TJ. We have a few rooms already blocked off so if you have trouble and want to stay there, I can release one of my rooms to you guys. There are some smaller brands there and quite a few 'boutique' stores who sent up sites to sell some pretty rare bottles (no deals, they KNOW what they have). We did get some 1020B El Tesoro White Label Blanco for 15 bucks a bottle last year. Also, 1921 and Arette were both very in-expensive last year. It's more of a 'party' atmosphere than the SOM. Lots of little taco vendors as well, we had a GREAT time.

First, TJ is not NEAR as scary as everyone makes it out to be. In fact, if you from the city (New York) then TJ has nothing to suprise you.
We personally drive down and make a weekend out of it. We play golf and go to the beach. We are in Baja (TJ, Ros., Ensenada) at least 5 times a year and we drive a huge SUV, never had any problems. We carry insurance because we don't want to end up in jail, but we've never had a problem. It's not that pricey. I don't like being restricted by a bus and lack of transportation. As far as nice places to stay. The Marriott will be downtown and within walking distance. Marriotts are nice, there is a certain quaility expectation of Marriotts, even in Mexico. To boot, this one will have been open about 6 weeks when we are there. Otherwise, there is a Residence in in Playa Del Mar (?) about 20 minutes from downtown TJ. You just take the toll road and it has it's own exit. It's on a Golf Course and is gated. The quaility is decent for mexico, but not up to standard Residence Inn quality in the US. |

Is this event more of a street fair, where it is held outside with food, music and drink. Would this be something that you might spend half a day at.
Just wondering if it is worth driving up for the day or staying the night. Does anyone know if there will be any gatherings amongest members. I am still trying to meet some of you. |

If you go with other group members, it's a day long event. We've never went more than one day. I wouldn't call it a street fair really. Hard to explain. IMO it's worth coming down for the day, staying the night, and heading home in the morning.
