New Jersey: Copper Canyon Restaurant & Tequila Bar
On 51 First Avenue in Atlantic Highlands, NJ 07716, approx. 40 miles across the Atlantic from the Manhattan Skyline is a hidden jewel called the Copper Canyon. There is no sign, only a painted horseshoe on the outside of the door. It used to be known only to the locals but the secret has long been out. The cuisine is a combination of both southwestern/mexican featuring panko crusted fish tacos to pasilla chile rubbed sirloin steak that melts like butter in your mouth! Mike is the owner/chef and does everything the right way. The tequila bar offers over 100 different selections as well as a blackboard for daily tequila flights. They have a "Connoisseur Selection" menu featuring Chinaco Limited Edition 7 Yr., Herrencia Historico, San Matias Rey Sol, Don Julio Real, Herradura Seleccion Suprema, etc. I have eaten there many times and the lump crabcake is the best I have ever had. Their "house" margarita is made with 100% agave blended with all natural juices. If you are ever traveling near the Jersey Shore, this is a must stop for all tequila & food lover's!
