Default Refreshing

2 years ago on our honeymoon in the Riviera Maya the bartender asked what I wanted. I said something with tequila, but suprise me. He said it was his favorite on his nights off. It cuts down the "potency" of the tequila without really masking it's flavor. He didn't have a name for it though. It's nothing complicated, but it is refreshing.

-Pour an ounce or two of tequila (determine your own strength) in a glass of ice.
-Squeeze the juice out of a slice of lime.
-Toss in a real tiny pinch of salt, or skip if you would like.
-Top off with Sprite or 7-up.

This has quickly become my favorite hot day cool me down. I haven't tried with any premium tequilas, as I would feel guilty. But Cuervo Tradicional has been my staple for mixing.

Sorry, I'll rephrase it...I just meant to squeeze the juice out.

LoL alright...

Sorry, I was thinking too hard about that, I thought you were supposed to cut a hole in a lime slice...similar to a ring, then put it in the drink...haha

That sounds very similar to what my wife and I call a Margarita Fizz.

tall glass with ice
1-2 ounces tequila
1 ounce lime juice
top it off with sugar free lime-flavored sparkling water (I just use store brand)
a slice of lime for garnish

It is very refreshing, you could also substitute ginger ale for the sparkling water. It really does taste like a fizzy margarita.

Honestly that is more expensive than just buying some limes and adding some "homeade simple syrup" to it.

What do you mean? Maybe I'm confused, I was talking about a 70 cent bottle of soda, that makes about 4 or 5 drinks. I prefer to stay sugar-free, simple-syrup isn't. I guess you could use agave syrup instead, but you still need the bubbles anyway.

Well I have sugar and water at home for simple syrup...for the cheapest margs in the world all I have to do is go spend a dollar on some limes, of course then the tequila.

As for your method (which by the way sounds very unique because its a "sparkling margarita") you need limes and sparkling lime water (which isnt expencive) and the other method called for Sprite and salt to be added as well.

I think my drink to make minus the tequila would be about .25 cents. Yalls are breaking the bank at a whopping 75 cents - a dollar! AHHHH! Thats a bit upper class for me...

Just kidding, I was just pointing out that squeezing some limes and adding homeade simple syrup would make the cheapest margaritas around that still taste better than Jose Cuervo Mix or something on that line. The drinks yall mentioned sound very refreshing and I even came up with my own idea of a margarita fizz based off of the info yall provided.

Juice of one lime (about 1-1.5oz)
Juice of half an orange (about 1oz)
Tequila (1 oz)
Agave Syrup (1 tablespoon)
Top off with Club Soda

Yum~
