Thank you for the link, that helps me out for the pricing.
I just want to make sure that someone isn't just making up there own version of Porfidio. I was told that there are people putting new tequila in the older porfidio bottles and saying that the bottles came from the older production and have been stored away. Have you heard of this bottle before? |

The things you here about Porfidio are enough to write a book. Unfortunately, refilling is always an issue. Even here in the states I here rumors of bars refilling bottles with different tequila. This is the main reason I do not purchase alcohol from Ebay, eventhough a lot of people do and have no problems. The best bet is to check online pics and examine other bottles to see what it is suppose to look like. Then check for the bottle being properly sealed. Normally I would say look for the NOM but the 12yr bottles I have seen did not have a NOM. Does anyone know if all of the 12yrs have no NOM? Other than that it is a trust issue.

I have heard it is a authentic Porfidio Product available only in Central and South America, only 1200 bottles, and it is just the regular single barrel anejo spirit in the bottles. For the price I would call it a collectiable not a drinker.
As a side not the seller on ebay is reputable and buys and sells allot of Tequila. |

I am pretty sure they do not, but i have not seen one in person, but in discussions about this particular tequila it has never come up, and I think as far as Porfidio goes if it had a nom it would be the first thing to come up.
I have heard a rumor that it was some of the earlier SBA, but who's gonna open a bottle this expensive to find out if its any good or not, not me if I had one. I don't know how authentic this stuff is but I would think M.G. would surface if it wasn't going into his pocket. I know a person or two that has a bottle I will poll them and see about the nom. None that I have seen have a NOM on them. Some are numbered on the back but that is about it. Some say Porfidio TEQUILA on the front, as this one does in the auction, and others say Porfidio en TEQUILA Jalisco, with the emphasis on Porfidio and Tequila. The bottle in the auction may have said all of that as well, as it is very easy to scrape off the stamped on label.
Same as the other porfidio bottles floating around now, once MG lost his status with the CRT, he continued to produce and bottle as a 100% agave spirit, where he couldn't technically call it Tequila, but was marketed as made in TEQUILA Jalisco. Many things to watch for... All the more reason for the CRT to come up with a decent, tamper-proof seal on all bottles, you could be getting colored water for all you know, as some of the collectibles will never be opened. |
