Default Anybody else get their Obama Tax Credit yet?

Well I finally got my Obama tax credit. Anybody else get theirs? Mine is in the form of a $16.50 a week reduction in my federal tax withholding amount. So that will work out to around $850.00 a year!! Enough to buy a few nice things for sure, but being broken down in each payday it probably will just get spent. I'm not complaining though! I heard that this is how most people will receive Obama's tax credit. Also while I'm on the subject of taxes, does anyone know if the laws have changed in California to where the online internet orders are now being charged sales tax?? My last two orders had taxes added. I'd never been taxed on internet orders before. Add the shipping charges and it's making it too expensive to do internet orders.

I just bought a humidor online with Papacigar.com from California and wasn't charged a sales tax at all. This isn't alcohol related but it should be the same...

As for the Obama stimulus...mine is being added to my check as well...12.50 which is nice I suppose. This will actually cover my cost of medical insurance through my company which is 25.00 a month...I guess I can thank Obama for taking care of my benefits package ...and that means more tequila later on

My understanding of the California Sales tax rules are if the company you are purchasing from has a physical presence in California they have to charge sales tax. If they don't, they don't. (This is based somewhat loosely on dealing with a computer vendor based out of Washington state where we were being charged sales tax, but with another similar vendor from Illinois we weren't).

The cigar company I used is located in Los Angeles...

I'm not saying anyone is wrong...but I was not charged sales tax...and I'm happy about that because a humidor is heavy so shipping is already high + california sales tax is high too...

If anyone wants a good price on a new cigar humidor, check out PapaCigar.com. I searched for weeks for a new 40-50 count humidor, they have a limited selection but the prices are unbeatable and the owner (Bob) treated me more than fair. He actually sent me 2 humidors for being a new customer and new to the cigar world....it doesnt get any better than that. And he hand wrote instructions on how to set it up. I will be giving them a lot of business.

To date, if a company has a branch in California, you'll be charged California sales tax...if not, no tax. I no longer have any shame in ordering online to beat state sales tax. IMHO, California legislators can not get enough revenue; they've doubled the budget in less than a decade and we have nothing to show for it.
I'm waiting for my stimulus...as a lady friend of mine commented, "hopefully batteries will be included". ;-P
