Default 30 year old Mezcal

Hello Board.....I was recently given two bottles of Mezcal by my father, who obtained them in 1978 from a friend. The bottles are unopened with seal still intact and have sat on a shelf for over 30 years. Also, there is a tiny bag of something that look like sand attached to the seal. Another mystery....
I'm attaching pictures of one of the bottles and the labels on it here (the bottles are identical). I'm wondering if the bottles are worth anything and if it is still drinkable. I do not know much about hard liquor (I'm a beer drinker), so pardon me my ignorance. Thank you!

Most likely worm salt in the bag, cool bottle. I'd say the collectible value would outweigh the enjoyability.

Thanks for the quick reply, MrAgave. Any idea how I would go about finding out the value of the bottles? I know there must be a website or something, but I haven't been able to find one. Thanks again!

It is easier to value a Tequila bottle, as there are not as many Mezcal collectors out there. Best bet would be to try eBay and hope the right person comes across your auction.

The bottle of Mezcal I found has a Texas state tax stamp also.

It reads "15340704 QT. 35.2 CENTS"

My labels aren't in anywhere near as good of shape as Troxartes.
