I noticed that Don Valente is VERY expensive in Mexico, and not readily available. Remember seeing it in Europea in Mexico City. Any ideas about how it is distributed in Mexico?

Thats a good question. I am not sure where you looked but I know its available in Cozumel, the licorera anejo is about 70.00 there. Here in Texas the licorera anejo is 120, so that is about 50.00 in savings if you do purchase it down there.

You have to keep in mind that Don Valente is a small, family operated distillery. They do not produce the same amount of many popular brands like Don Julio, Cuervo, Patron...etc. They also do not operate the distillery for other brands, it is exclusively Don Valente.

I'm not too savvy on the distribution in Mexico but I am very familiar with the system here in Texas. I will try to find some more information about this question and report back here if I hear anything more.

I have a bottle of the Reposado here at home - label is entirely in Spanish and there is no mention of any US distributor. Last night, a friend came by with a bottle of Blanco which he had purchased in Puerto Vallarta. We enjoyed a sniff of it, and noticed that although it was sold in Mexico, it carried on the label the name of a California distributor. Any chance that this product may have been "imported" back into Mexico?.... thereby explaining the high price?
