Default Gran Centenario 3L

I was looking on ebay and ran accross the entire lineup of Gran Centenario (Blanco, Reposado, and Anejo) in 3L bottles. I think that is equivelent to about 4 750ml bottles. The prices ranged from 105.00-150.00 per bottle and from seller Al Capone.

I am very hesitant to purchase tequila on ebay but that seems like a really good deal. The anejo in my local shops goes for about 50-55.00 and I havent tried the lineup yet. But if I can save 50-60.00 by purchasing something like this it would be a steal for me. I think shipping is about 20.00. Plus the bottles arent sold anywhere that I know of.

Is this a good and safe deal? And if so, what are yalls preferences on the Gran Centenario line...Blanco, Repo, or Anejo? I personally am a blanco or less aged fan but would be willing to try the better of the lineup if thats not it. I saw the blanco only received a 86 rating but the repo and anejo seem to have great reviews.

It's a good deal if the juice is what it is supposed to be. Wasn't Al Capone doing some shady stuff before? Filling and selling Porfidio bottles or something?

Thats what I recalled hearing but he has 100% Positive Feedback so its kinda hard to make the decision. I may try it out, he apparently can get quite a few. Some of his bottles are overpriced but this seemed like a good deal.

He does have a couple Porfidio bottles (blue and purple cactus)

I love the big bottles, I've brought most of mine back from Mexico though. You can usually save quite a bit of money.

I have bought from Alejandro many times , I feel he is a fair and honest seller, I do have a few of his Porfidio 375ml bottles that are in question, I have not opened any of them but I also think he could have bought the bad porfidio bottles and then just resold the bottles on ebay without knowing the tequila was bad. Porfidio does not sell the same quality of Tequila as they did in the late ninties and has a history many problems that could affect the quality of there tequila.

Just to get this straight for me....

They dont make these extra large bottles for American sale do they? I've seen one Hypnotiq bottle in the liquor store that is 5L and HUGE but it says not for sale.

I know the cross border guidelines to texas states that you cant bring in more than 1.5L of tequila (probably any liquor). So I dont even think I could bring back one of these larger sized bottles; meaning ebay may be the only resort.

It seems like a good deal, I directly asked him in an email about the allegations of tequila bottles being resealed on ebay. He assured me the contents are what they say they are and I asked him for some of his opinions reguarding the tequila he sells. I was particularly interested in not only these large bottles but some of the unheard of brands he lists as being rare. He told me he is a hunter and seller but does not particularly drink tequila. This is unfortunate because he obviously has some prized items I would love to get my hands on. He also referred me to tequila.net for research...hehe.

But I've noticed some stuff is overpriced and some stuff is underpriced so with a bit of research you could land a good deal. I would love the 4L bottle of Clase Azul (but not for 750.00) He also mentioned he will sell directly thru paypal and not thru ebay to avoid fees and he will combine items for shipping. I feel this is pretty legit but we'll see...

I have been wanting to purchase a few bottles online. I think I'll get more for my money with Gran Centenario (which is the best of the lineup?) The blanco doesnt have "great" reviews but for 100.00 its hard to pass up...

He has 100% because he just changed his name and profile. With that said, I have bought both from him and ebay but I always buy with the impression that I am only buying the bottle and not the juice. I would never buy something to drink on there and pay top dollar. That is just how I look at it.

I think 1.75L or 2L is max allowed magnum size in the US for spirits (imported products anyway), unless empty. There are many large empty bottles given to bars by the distributors for promo purposes.
