Default Maestro Dobel "Diamond Clarity Tequila"

I have become fascinated by this for about a week. I stumbled upon an article that I thought was interesting...

http://www.notcot.com/archives/2008/...ro_dobel_t.php

I just dont understand how a silver tequila can have the complexity of an anejo....

I understand the concept but it will take me trying the product in reality before I can appreciate what is being done to the fullest. Is this a new form of marketing, or are we upgrading our standards for new lines of tequila??

After lots of research and contacting the company, I am yet to still find a retailer...and with it being such limited production...I want to hear a review while we can; although I'm sure there is plenty going around if its holding a price tag of just 75.00. Right now it is only in Resaurants and Bars which is unusual...in Texas usually we get in a retailer first...

Now more questions...What does the CRT have to say about a silver tequila being made from a Reposado, Anejo, and Xtra Anejo? Can you call this tequila any of those labels? Oh my, I think my head is spinning.

It's not a silver, it is a Reposado... blended from a repo, anejo, and x anejo.

The diamond part, comes from the 4 C's according to the article... Clarity, Complexity, Crispness, and Craftmanship.

The bottle is also very similar to the Maestro Tequilero (only available in MX) bottle. I just received a sample of the Mastro Dobel, and will definitely compare the two brands...

I understand that it is a reposado by reading the article...

But it is as clear as water...and thats where I am having trouble understanding the complexity of the tequila. It will taste aged, but still be considered a clear reposado?

Anyways, definently let me know your opinions when you try it...

I'll take a photo of it in a Riedel, to me it looked like it had a bit of color in the bottle.

It has to be labeled as a Reposado as that is the lowest level of age in the blend, so you can't call it whatever you want. I think the "Diamond" part of the name is causing people to think it is a blanco or silver, which it is not. But it is very light for a reposado, so I'm curious to see what types of flavors and aromas it contains.

Hey there. Check out the Maestro website, http://www.maestrodobel.com/. According to that it says it won't be available in Texas, only California, Illinois, Wisconsin and Georgia. It gave an email to contact about availability in other states, mailto:info@proximospirits.com. Not sure if you found that out yet or not but in case you hadn't. Good luck. I too am quite curious about this and want to try it.

It certainly sounds interesting. I do have a bottle of Maestro from Mexico and would love to find this one to compare.

I'm wondering if they didn't just take some reposado, anejo, and extra anejos, blend them, and then run the blend of finished tequilas through a still again to remove the color... just a guess though.

So has anyone found a place where you can buy a bottle of this yet? I can't seem to find anywhere?

I can't find it anywhere online, and definitely not in Ohio liquor stores. The MSRP is listed at $75. Is it just me or is that seem cheap for a limited production tequila that involves that much effort to make? I'd love to come acrossed a bottle to find out though
