Default Penjamo Reposado and Hussong's Reposado

I went to the store today and purchased a bottle of Penjamo Reposado and Hussongs Reposado NOM 1489 40.99/750 ML. I thought the Hussongs may be a mixto after reading about it but I was quite confused by some stuff I had read. I havent tasted it, if its a mixto I may just save the full bottle...yuck ...it doesnt say 100% agave anywhere though. Any details on this would be great.

As for the Penjamo Reposado NOM 1638 Lot 5001 Bottle 01...this is a tall blue bottle and its not listed on tequila.net. Its a navy tall slender glass that looks similar to a cane. It was priced at 37.99 and I have not opened it. It does not say anywhere on the bottle that its 100& Agave either and I will be dissapointed if I spent 80.00 on 2 mixtos.

Let me know whats up guys

Hussongs used to be 100%, sometimes you can still find the 100% bottles on the shelves. The new juice is not, but I have heard many say it tastes ok even though it is a mixto.

Penjamo, do you see 100% Agave on the bottle?

No, I bought 2 mixtos for 80.00...what a rough day....

Wow, I think I'm still in shock

I hate how they are mixtos but can still call themselves Tequila Reposados and carry NOMS....I'm sure they taste decent at lease but I'm still down.

the CRT needs to put fat stickers on bottles that say Joven/Mixto

I found a Hussongs Reposado 100% Agave at a store in Waco...its behind a glass case for about 70.00. I posted about it a couple weeks ago when someone else mentioned it.

I went to another store and I saw it for cheaper today and it didnt click in my head that it was a mixto...I just thought it was a good deal.

On a good note, I will be able to take the 2 mixtos and compare them side by side with the 14.00 Tequilito Gold from Don Valente

Oh well, I can think of much worse things than getting stuck with two mixtos... plus you can probably return them if unopened.

Not in Texas

Once you leave the premisis then its unreturnable. That goes for all alcohol and tobbacco.

I believe I posted a while ago that I got a bottle of Hussong's for a gift and it was a mixto and it tasted like one. You should do a little research first, I also tried a few years ago the 100% Hussong's and it still wasn't very good. Buyer beware, if it doesn't say 100%, I won't buy it, but I guess you can always pour it for the people that I'm sure you know that wouldn't care either way.

If the tequila does not say something about being 100% agave on the label, you can be quite sure it is a mixto. All 100% agave tequilas currently being produced will say so on the label.

That being said, since you can't return them, might as well crack 'em and make up some ritas!

Hussongs really wasnt too bad. And I did my searching around town and found the 100% Agave Hussongs...I just didnt study the particular bottle I was buying; although I read the pocotequila.com review of Hussongs before and thats what lead to my confusion but the pretty bottle looks nice on the shelf.

As for the Penjamo....absolutely disgusting...I will use that mixto for people I dont like...haha.

We live and learn...I like expirementing, sometimes it works in my favor...sometimes it doesnt.

I made this mistake with my first purchase in Mexico with Corralejo Repo.

Strangely enough I liked the taste of the Mixto better then the recent 100% editions.
