Default ASOMBROSO

OK everybody.... we can probably agree that Asombroso makes some great tequila, but let me ask you:

1) Excuse me, but is Asombroso... "weak"? I mean, I can drink a lot of that stuff and yeah I get a buzz... but it seems kinda weak.
Anybody else think that Asombroso is maybe a little too impotent (tee hee)?

2) Are the bottles full? Anybody got a 750 ml beaker or somethin'? For a test, I poured a 750 ml bottle of Asombroso into an empty 750 ml bottle of Hornitos.
It didn't measure up (you know what I'm sayin'.)
It was probably a shot glass shy of a 750 ml bottle. Twice.

Opinions?

it sounds like you and me have different taste buds, because I think Asombroso blanco (the only one Ive tried) is horrible. Yet, I think HErencia Mexicana blanco is great. Crazy huh?

Anyway, thats my two cents, I dont like Asombroso.

AsomBroso is a much lighter, sweeter blanco than a CN or Los Abuelos. I certainly wouldn't call it horrible and there are many times that I reach for it over the others. I find it refreshing.

To each their own.

Asombroso is an excellent tequila, and yes it has an original taste. It's unique.
It's also highly regarded in this forum and others.
I can drink a lot of it without getting too buzzed, so I ask...

is it purposely weak to encourage consumption?
Or is it so pure - with the extra distillation - that it has no unwanted side effects?

Get it?

I'm asking.

Comments?

I would think 80 proof is 80 proof no matter what bottle you buy. Some tequilas are so subtle I feel like I could drink them all night. But your blood alcohol level would be the same whether you had 5 shots of AsomBroso or 5 shots of Jose Cuervo....although there are no additives like in a mixto, surely it doesnt keep you less buzzed....maybe a placebo effect?

Subtle flavored tequilas will get me in trouble; I have loved a few blancos so much I ended up drinking 12-15oz's of tequila, and at 145lbs, that is enough to be hungover the next day whether or not it was 100% or not...

Horrible may be a stretch, but in my humble opinion, I don't like it at all! But I am not one to force my opinions down others throats. Everyone must see for themselves. Taste buds are interesting. Whether it be food, drink, or whatever, a fascinating subject.

TV, it's interesting to me that we both really like Los Abuelos, yet our opinions differ on Asombroso. Combined with the fact that I love Fulano, and like Pura SangreGran Reserva, which comes out of the same distillery.

Excellent food for thought. Theres no right or wrong, really. Just some damn good debate!

I thought it was great, both the El Platino and the 3 month repo La Rosa, I have yet to pony up for the Extra Anejo however. I'm not holding my breath that I ever will either.

There is always something to talk about when you break out the AsomBroso as well, yeah I'm talking about the beloved bottle, you can't not comment on the bottle...

And then, of course there is...

This.

Ay Carumba!

The question is, could you have enjoyed that bottle knowing you walked with a $200 discount.

I would have felt bad knowing the poor clerk may well have been fired over that...

I'da gotten over it fairly quickly, probably by my second snifter.

Maybe a toast to my new favorite merchant, wish him luck finding another job.

Salud!
