Default The Vegas/Lees connection

I don't know what the rest of you do that are stuck in locations with poor tequila selection like me, but I sure am glad so many people love to go to vegas and there's always a Lee's nearby. Probably a third of the bottles of tequilas I've tried have come to me this way. My mom called from Vegas today and she will be bringing me back an El Tesoro 70th, Aha Toro anejo and Don Fernando anejo Only problem now is I have to wait 2 and a half weeks for her to come home.

Nice, it will be worth the wait.

I am in the same boat as you up here in Canada. Occasionally they get something good up here, other times I rely on trips to USA/Mexico and some good friends in the USA.

Those are all very good selections. Did you ask for them or does your mom know about tequila?
For some reaoson or another every time my mom travels to mexico she brings me back at least one bottle, and she surprizes me because she knows nothing about tequila but she brings back just the right bottle every time (Don Julio Real, 1942, Cuervo anejo in brown short bottle)

I love my Cuervo Anejo from Mexico. If I understand right, it is no longer being made Cleveland has a horrible selection. Cuervo Platino is about as good as it gets. The rest is Patron, Cabo Wabo, and etc. It sucks when the state controls the selection. And at $4 a gallon driving out of state is out of the question. Time to suck up shipping costs.

Well my mom got back from Vegas. Unfortunately the Aha Toro suffered some leakage even with an artificial cork This caused the red shrink wrap on the bottle to come loose so I lost the red color and most of the labels (should make for some "interesting" pics though). Shrink wrapping bottles to change the color seems a little tacky to me. Tasted it and it seemd to be a little "off" with a burnt sugar kind of smell/taste to it, but still spicy. Will check again tomorrow, as I've been sick so maybe my tastebuds are off. The Don Fernando came in a cool tin cylinder, but based on the price I don't think it will compare to Jefe's older version. Will probably wait till next weekend when its Father's Day to try that one. The week after that we'll be bustin open the 70th with fellow aficionado Robert as I get my first tequila.net visitor in Hawaii

Aloha, Rick

In Western Massachusetts we have 1 store that has an OK selection.
But nothing compared to Lee's in Las Vegas, they have a very truely impressive selection

I just got back from Vegas and smuggled 3 bottles that I had bought from Lee's on E. Flamingo that arent carried in my neck of the woods

Herencia Mexicana Anejo : I really liked the respo that i tried at my local tequila bar, so i decided to buy the anejo
1921 Tequila Reserva Especial : based soley on revies on tequila.net and it was pretty reasonable price-wise
VooDoo Tiki Anejo: again based on reviews and price.

There were a couple others I had my eye on, like the 4 Copas Anejo, $100. but they were just a bit too pricey. I decided to go with 3 bottles instead of 2 that were in my price range

For anyone visiting, or knows anyone visiting Las Vegas, Lee's is definitely the stop to make.

My fiances nephew just got accepted to some school in hawaii(big island) so the chances of me moving there are greater than ever.

Ive said before, as much as I LOATHE LA and its lack of seasons, it ALMOST makes up for it with tequila selection.

Im excited about our potential move after we get married, I am not excited about the tequila selection I will be dealt... Maybe Ill just buy 5 cases of stuff before I move.LOL

I will be an advocate for bringing more tequilas to the big island, especially since if we move there, we are planning on opening our own mexican restaurant will all locally grown food stuff (of course we'll need to ship in some fine tequilas) this will be a huge learning experience.

Looks like trips to the Big Island will be getting more interesting in the future. Can't wait
