Default EBAY Tequila Auctions

After seeing how crazy the Cabo Wabo 1st edition bottle is being bid up on Ebay, it makes you wonder how many of the auctions are manipulated. I just came across another Tequila listed by Alcopone, who is a reputable seller on Ebay, but in this paticular auction all the bidders are private, which seems a little strange. From my experience, you might have one private bidder during an auction, but to have all bidders private is questionable. The item being auctioned off is Don Julio Real with the Silver container. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA:IT&ih=016

The item is bid up to $700+ and there are still several days left, makes you wonder why all the bidding now. I guess if you are going to buy off Ebay, it comes down to the buyer knowing the value of the item, the seller and having no fear of getting ripped off. I personally have not purchased tequila from Ebay, due to the unknown factor.

I don't know if eBay sellers have ever been reputable. You're always dealing with the unknown, and putting your trust into feedback. Alcopone was pointed out for buying an empty bottle and selling the same bottle a few months later as full. Unless you know the person and actually know for a fact that they are trustworthy, you may be bidding on something that is far from true. eBay has become the land of scams, tread cautiously.

Was unaware of the bottle situation with Alcopone....just goes to show that what one might percieve as legit, another can show different.

My whole thing with Al, is where the hell does he find all this stuff!!!! He's got tons of bottles, even the most "recent" high dollar bottles from La Ley... I personally have never bought any thing from him, cause I just don't trust a guy named ALCAPONE (like rosco is anymore trustworthy) :-\

The guy has been selling bottles for awhile, anybody know something about him?

I've bought tequila from Al many times.
It arrived in perfect condition, everything was exactly as described.

He was replied & answered any questions I had about the bottles before I bought them.
I think the guy is a great seller.

I have not purchased anything from Alcopne, but I have asked him some questions and made an offer, which he replied too, but like Roscoe stated, you have to wonder where he gets all this stuff. There are quite a few very knowledgeable members in this forum who know most of the people in this business and if they question some of the goings on, you have to stop and listen.

I agree with blagave, I can only take yalls expert advice on these things. I dont know who to go to except yall in the tequila community. I certainly would not purchase a bottle off ebay either without having approval from some on this forum to let me know its legit and worth the $$

I reccomend that you all look at some of the posts on the other forum and examine your bottles because all is not a trustworthy person. He is refilling bottles and selling things as other bottles that they are not (calling new porfidio bottles old ones even though he has been notified about it already). If you are buying to never open the bottle that is fine but if you plan on drinking it it is most likely not the tequila you ordered. The other forum has numerous cases of him refilling bottles. It is a shame that someone can be so decitfull. He got busted by the Porfidio bottle that he bought off ebay empty and then put it up full (he must be a magician) shortly after and by looking at pics it was the identical bottle and it even had the same black smudge on the front. A friend of mine called him and told him about it and he said it was a different bottle. My friend recommended he put a pic on ebay of both bottles side by side if they were different. He said he would but never did and removed the posts. Since then he has continued to sell resealed bottles including obvious bottles like the Porfidio Blue 1LT Repo bottles. Hope no one bought those because they do not even have the porfidio seals or anything. Here are some of the ways people pray on the unknowledgeable on ebay. If you do not know or examine the bottles properly you end up getting ripped off. If you are buying off ebay it should only be from a proper seller (I only know 1 and it is Mark Cannon frome Pocotequila) or be buying something you will never open.

Now you know why Al has all these rare bottles.

Sure, he is great at marketing and describing the bottle, and yes he ships on time, but you have no idea if the contents of the bottle are legit. As TJ stated, great if you don't plan on opening the bottle, but don't be surprised when you do open it and it tastes like the cheapest mixto Tequila on the market.

Wow, that really disgusts me. Is there anything that could be done legally...I'm sure ebay doesn't like dishonest sellers. Plus Al has 1 out of 500 negative feedback. He looks very legit, I'm glad yall are here to clarify different. Although I'd never buy a bottle over ebay.
