Default 1800 Coleccion Anejo

A new mexican restaurant with a pretty good Tequila selection just opened in my town. They're highest priced tequila is the 1800. I haven't heard anyone hear mention it and was wondering if it's worth the $75 or should I stick with the HSS for $50. Yup, expensive in Hawaii.

I'm not sure if the HSS is even worth $50 anymore... unless that bottle is 6 months old, then maybe. Remember that the master distiller who designed HSS is no longer with Herradura.

Collectible tequilas are usually about just that... collecting, and not drinking. Although for a bottle that is $1500-2000, $75 a shot is extremely reasonable. I'm not even sure they will recoup costs at that price.

There are 12 2oz pours in a 750ml bottle (8 3oz pours). Take the price and multiply by 12 and that will tell you a bar's markup on your shot. So $50 for HSS x 12 shots = $600. $300 for the bottle = 100% markup.

$75 for the 1800 would only give them $900 for the bottle (assuming 2oz pours). It might be worth a try at that price, just to say you tried it. Everything I have read is pretty typical for the super-high priced collectable tequilas though: good, but not worth the money.

1800 Coleccion is definatly an awsome tequila and at 75.00 it is a bargain, i have seen it priced as high as 300.00 a shot, so i would say definately yes to a 75.00 shot of 1800 coleccion.

At $75 I would get it. It is something that is worth trying. I paid $150 the first time I tried it and have seen it at $350 per 2 ounces.

I am starting to question if we are talking about the same tequila. Does the bottle come with a Silver and crystall decanter?

I thought about that too. But what other 1800 product would be $75 a shot? The anejo is less than $40 for a whole bottle.

MILLENIUM EDITION ?

Its the one in the wood box with the Jimador on the front. Think its going for around $80-100 on ebay. So one shot could almost buy you a bottle. Or maybe they don't know what they have, in that case buy the bottle.
