Default Mexico

so once again i have someone close to me going to the motherland. this time i'm looking for something that is available in mexico only. it has to be somewhat reasonably priced, that way i can perhaps get two; one for collecting and one for drinking. anybody have any good suggestions? the only one i can find without going into extensive research is Herradura Gran Imperio Reposado. has anyone tried it? or have an idea how much is costs (in US Dollars)?

i'm all ears...

My rec would be Arette Unique. It is a 375ml bottle (or 350ml for the older version), aged 6 years, and can be picked up from the distillery for around $40.

Wow, it's like a kid in a candy store! Word on the street is that Casa Noble has something coming out of it's closet, and not ready for sale here, yet, don't hold me to that though, I'm having lunch with Pepe on Monday, and i'm gonna try to feel him out and fish out some hints.... If it's true though, it difintely won't be cheap, but so worth it, again don't hold me to it, i'll find out Monday. Also El Mayor Extra Anejo should be popping out on the shelves in limited quantities in Mexico, maybe you can get a hold of one of those for a more reasonable price, I don't know, but to me whether i can get it here or not i just like purchasing them in Mexico, with that little holographic Mexico sticker on them, gives them a truly PRODUCTO DE MEXICO authenticity. Makes them more fun to collect, along with a cool story behind them.

Here are a few to search for:
Maestro Tequilero, Reserva de los Gonzalez, Prodigio, Regional, Escondida, D'Antano, Afamado, Tapatio, Ley .925, Tequila Grillos, Revolucion, Don Roberto, Semental, El Secreto

I bought the Herradura Gran Imperio for about $40 at one of the large shopping markets there...

I asked the same question on another forum a few years ago and allot of people said Gran Centenario Reserva del Tequilero ( a cuervo product)  Nice Anejo a couple notches above JCRF known now in the USA as Leyenda at $200 plus.(recently) Should be able to get it at duty free for $100 ish. Large format JCRF again at duty free for a bargin price, i think 2.5l was around $165- 180.
On the cheaper side i'll say Centinela and Tapatio especially Tap. You won't likly find these last two at the Duty Free. you might find Centinela in the USA but its pretty rare.
