Favorite Tequila

If you had to choose just ONE tequila as the one to keep in your house in a given price range, what would it be?

Under $50 -
$50-100 -
$100+ -

Difficult question...I know, but I'm trying to get the suggestion from tequila lovers what is their end all be all of agave juice.

Mine:

Under $50 - Corrido Anejo
$50-100 - Clase Azul Reposado
$100+ - Don Julio 1942 (although admittedly I've probably only had 5 tequilas at over $100 a bottle)

The market is so different from state to state that it really makes it difficult to compare things dollar-wise. For instance in WA state the Corrido Anejo lists for almost $70 and the Clase Azul Repo is over $100.

A lot of product also has limited distribution i.e. only available in CA or CO or TX which means aquiring a bottle involves an online retailer and paying shipping charges.

Based on WA state prices here are mine:

Under $50 - El Tesoro Platinum
$50-100 - Aha Toro Anejo
Over $100 - Jose Cuervo Reserva de la Familia

I'm in MN so our variety is pretty limited. I buy 90% of my bottles online. The cost to ship is less than the cost for local sales tax and liquor tax so it's actually even more savings. I'm lucky to be in a state that allows liquor delivery.

Wow, I never thought picking favorites would be so hard. I know my favorite distilleries but to be only able to pick a single bottle at each price range? Ouch!

Since prices are different all over I went with the universal `What can we get them for online?` as my guide.

Under $50 - 4 Copas Reposado
$50-100 - Casa Noble 5 yr
$100+ - Ocho Extra Anejo

Tough choices, but my current favorites are:

Under $50 - Dos Lunas Reposado
$50 to $100 - Clase Azul Reposado
Over $100 - Jose Cuervo Reserva de la Famila

$50 to $100 this is the hardest because most of my favorites are in this category but 7 leguas anejo wins by a small margin.
$100+ El tesoro 70th Learning and tasting new tequilas is one of my favorite "pasa tiempos" CANT BEAT IT!! Its a cool hobby!!

I've been doing it for the past 4-5 years and I'm really starting to get into it more now. I thought about this mini-survey and thought about picking a favorite in each aging category for the price range, but I really wanted people ultimate favorite juice.

It gives me a good idea of must haves. I've recently bought a bunch more bottles and I'm anxious to try them. Good thing I have a couple of friends and a wife that like tequila almost as much as I do.

Breaking them down by price makes it a lttle more interesting...

Under 50 - Casa Noble Crystal
50-100 - Los Abuelos Anejo
100 + - CN5YSB

Yes, this is a tough one!

Under $50 - Dulce Vida Anejo 100 proof organic (it's $49 here )
$50-100 - Grand Mayan ($90) or Casa Noble Single Barrel Anejo 5 yr ($95)
$100+ - Herradura Seleccion Suprema (HSS) or Jose Cuervo Reserva de Familia

As a note, if you like extra-aged sipping tequila like HSS then you owe it to yourself to try the Grand Mayan Extra Anejo. Amazing at under $100
