Default Another Tequila Newbie

Hi my name is Greg from Australia. I'm fairly new to the world of tequila and excited to try many different tequilas. My previous experience has been mainly with the Don Julio range and Jose Cuervo. My situation is different now that i am in Poland for work. I have scouted a few stores to see what is available here and would like some advice as to which tequila should i go for. I like something smooth with flavour and a bit of bite if that makes sense. So here are the ones that i have spotted so far :
Patron silver & reposado , El Jimador blanco & reposado, 1800 reposado , Don Agustin blanco & reposado, Herencia de Plata silver & anejo, Sierra Milenario blanco & extra anejo, Reserva Del senor silver & anejo, Tezon blanco, reposado & anejo

What do you think?

You should try searching the database for reviews and more info on them. Out of those choices, it looks like Don Agustin, Herencia del Plata, Senor, and Tezon would be best. El Jimador would be a good bargain mixer.

Thanks Jd. I have a read through the reviews and i think i'll start of with Don Augustin or Herencia del Plata.

I haven't tried those particular two, but based on the reviews, I'll bet they are tasty.

Regarding the ones I have tried (IMHO!!!):
Patron - overpriced and overhyped; smooth, but also weak, in the mouth, and too much back-end burn on the finish for a supposedly 'premium' tequila.
El Jimador - tastes like a baby brother of Herradura...I wonder why;still a good mixer and a sippable anejo.
1800 is a Cuervo product, and it tastes like one.
Tezon - I've only tried the blanco, and it was very nice, but the price point value has not been met in this one for me.

All just my opinion, though! YMMV

I'd start drinking small-batch potato vodka and obscure rustic shnaps!

The Whisky Exchange : Online Whisky Shop - Buy Single Malt Scotch Whisky, Whiskies of the World, Rare Whisky

They ship to Poland! You could definitely find something in their selection.

Hi,
I live in Germany and I can recomend you to take a look at this shop
German Tequila Silver
They ship to Poland and they have a good Collection:
I had
Casa Noble Crystal-best lowland Tequila ever, super smooth, just excelent.
Amate Silver- another good lowland Tequila (same Destilery as Casa Noble)
El Tesoro Platnum- very nice Tequila I would say the best of the Highlands.
Ocho Blanco 2009 - this was a dissapointment I excepted more, way to much burn.
Siete Leguas Blanco- good Tequila but I would prefer El Tesoro since its almost the same price and i think its a little bit better.
Patron Silver- way overpriced, not much character.
Corralejo Blanco - for that price you cant beat it I would say it has the best Value. Its a very nice Tequila.
El Jimmador Blanco - didnt like that to much reminded me of mixto tequilas.
Don Julio Anjeo - this was the first 100 % Agave Tequila I bought and I didnt like it, since then I only drink blancos.
Sauza Tres Generaciones Plata - didnt like that too muach either, tasted "cheap" but was very expensive.
Last and least the Siera Silver and Gold which is very popular in Germany the worst stuff on the Planet I would prefer vodka before I drink this

Hope this helps you a bit.

Thanks for the link to that shop. It looks like they have a good range of tequilas to choose from and the prices seem pretty good. Yeah i won't be touching those Sierra mixto type tequilas. 100% agave is the way to go
