I had the repo, and it was that hot finish that turned me away. It was actually hot throughout for me, but it was a brand new bottle, so that makes a difference. Still, the alcohol covered up most of the taste.

I like Espolon and El Ultimo for bargain sipping. Espolon has a little spice to go with the fruitiness, whereas El Ultimo tastes more authentic with lots of agave. They both have their place with me.

I have found that most Tequilas do improve after being open for a while, especially in the finish (among them Casa Noble Crystal). Tenampa azul repo tasted like a cheap mixto when I opened it and after a couple days it was pretty decent - not anything earthshaking but with a very interesting peppery taste, and for the $14 I paid a nice bargain.

Alright, I know now that I have to try the Casa Noble Crystal again. I found it to be borderline disgusting the first time I tried it. It's either a bad bottle or it needed to breathe. The cork looked fine, so I'm assuming it wasn't cork rot.

Out here in the 'burbs - well at Luke's Liquors in Rockland (South Shore), the Casa Noble Crystal is in the $40 range. I hope you're not paying $60 for it! Yikes!
(personally not a huge fan of it - I don't particularly like triple-distilled tequilas)

Question Casa noble crystal

This weekend I was at ramirez liquor buying Don pilar tequila. I asked carlos about casa noble Crystal! His response was "you mean casa noble blanco"
I thought Crystal was different than the blanco! His response was, that it is
the same thing! I did not believe him.My question to you tequileros. Is it the same stuff or not? I want to try this juice!! If it is anywhere as good as the 2 year anejo, then I am missing out on some good juice!! Anybody that can help
answer this question, I would be thankful!!

This is from another post I recently did.

"I think older CN bottles were labeled 'blanco' on the neck, but when they changed packaging (bottles) awhile ago, they started printing 'crystal' on the bottle neck collars. Maybe that is part of the confusion if you are finding older bottles on the shelves. Should be basically the same juice, though. I don't think they changed the recipe. "

The blanco, of course, will taste different from the anejo, but they come from the same stock. You can taste a natural progression in CN from blanco to anejo, but the wood (french oak) adds to the flavor as it ages. The wood adds the caramel and vanilla notes, and makes it more mellow and sweet. The blanco is brighter and lighter, but still has that famous CN nose and taste. There are bolder, more flavorful blancos out there, but CNC is very balanced. You owe to yourself to try it, and it will give you more appreciation for the entire CN line. Don't forget about CNR as well! It is obviously going to be closer in taste to CNA with the caramel and vanilla notes.
