What glass or glasses do you like for sipping tequila? Does it vary by type of tequila? Are there other considerrations? Any info you can share would be of interest to me.

Do a search for "riedel" in the forum and you will find a few discussions regarding the "Riedel Tequila Glass", caballitos, and snifters.

I personally use Riedels, but have no issue using snifters at bars and restaurants. Standard shot glasses (caballitos) would probably be my last choice. I enjoy drinking Mezcal from the small clay cups that come with Del Maguey products.

Just got around to watching the video. Long but informative. It cost me $100, though - I just had to have a set of the Riedel Vinum Tasting Glasses. I don't know if I can afford to hang around with you guys as I learn about tequila!

The regular Riedel Tequila glass works great for me, and it's a little more affordable. Which will leave you with more money for Tequila!

I prefer the traditional way of drinking Tequila although most here will call me a Neanderthal but a 1.5oz caballito is by far my favorite piece of glassware.

I have strong Ukrainian features so I guess I'm better suited for tasting (big nose, big mouth ) without benefit of a large glass.

Being a fan of the blancos now I prefer to toss the whole thing on my tongue and just let it sit there for a moment, just a taste 'POW'! Give it a quick swirl and then swallow.

Never salt, never lime and always at room temperature (my how we grow eh? ) and on those rare occasions when I feel like a little something to chase it down, some very dark chocolate will hit the spot just perfectly.

Enjoy it like you want, we's all different creatures on this rock!

ˇSalud!

IMO:

Riedels are ideal, but for most people and situations, a simple champagne flute is almost as good. Descending from there, my preferences are: white wine glass, rocks glass, standard shot glass, snifter, caballito.

The most important things are that there is sufficient space in the glass for the booze to breathe, room for your nose, and ideally enough space so that you can incline the glass at an angle approaching parallel to the ground so you can appreciate the different aromas as they evaporate at different rates.

Reasonable people can disagree, but I find caballitos useless for tasting purposes, and snifters concentrate far too much alcohol vapor for my liking. At the end of the day, the best and easiest way to determine your own preference is to pour 1/4 of the same juice in several different types of glass, and see which presents the aromas in the most agreeable way. Salud!
