Smile Tequila Newbie

So as of a couple months ago, I have decided to involve my pallet and love for fine spirits in the world of Tequila i dont drink to often and and a newbie in the tequila world. So my question is this I am a person who loves flavor, robust flavor if tht makes sense, spirits that lack ump and robustness and a world of flavors and pure agave are not me.So here goes, Im looking to buy a bottle of tequila for the thanksgiving holiday to share with family and friends,i live in Maryland and price and location is not an issue, Im looking for a tequila that is far from lacking in flavor and taste one that is very sweet with vanilla and caramel im looking for a 100% agave tequila that is very robust with little to no alchohol harshness and what i mean when i say harshness i have tried some tequilas that when tasted all i got was sugar and a kind of harshness that was not to be enjoyed, so i should say im looking for a robust tequila that is so smooth in taste but brings out the flavor of tequila really should be.i dont want a brand like Patron or jose cuervo or a heavaly marketed brand i want a craft tequila from Mexico, in which the distiller chooses quality over everything else.

Default Herradura

I would nominate the Herradura Double Barrel Reposado. It has enough age and taste to be an Anejo, but because they change barrels during the aging, it can only be classified as a Reposado. I thought it was a great sipper!

Otherwise, just browse through the posts here. Everyone has a different opinion. You can also read the reviews for the top rated products.

Thumbs up Tequila newbie

My 1st anniversary as a tequilero is coming up & I remember being a newbie.
[time flies] wanting to try all kinds of tequilas. as you experience new tequilas,Things change! your pallet,
changes! I originally considered myself an anejo drinker, but I am now hooked
on fine reposados. Me as a tequilero I am now looking for a full tequila taste,
with a smooth Agave taste going down. And a full agave taste lasting a while.
And of course very important dont forget the nose! that has been one of my
key issues with tequila. To me a tequila that has a good agave aroma And a
great after taste, that is what I call been hooked "line and sinker".
at this time in my tequila experience I am hooked on CHAMUCOS REPOSADO!!!
Maybe this will change? A while ago I was hooked on FINA ESTAMPA ANEJO. I think that before you go and get lost on about 100 different types of fine tequilas. Ask yourself, Do I want to please other people, or do I want to please myself?

My vote is for Clase Azul Reposado, the "Repo that drinks like an Anejo!" (They should really copyright that). It sounds like what you are looking for. Utterly magical.

I would have to give a suggestion of Fortaleza. I am an anejo drinker and I recently ordered the anejo. I liked it so much I placed an other order of the entire flight. The whole line is wonderful. A very plesent nose kinda like the El Tesoro lineup.

You didn't mention a price range. I'd recommend Herradura Suprema. It's everything you are asking for Plus some. Between 200 and 300 dollars a pop.

I'll second that recommendation, a very good value at around $75!

This is what MNSHO would recommend:

Blanco: CN Crystal ~$40
Reposado: Fortaleza ~$55
Anejo: 7 Leguas or Excellia ~$50/$70 respectively
XA: Paradiso ~$100

My vote would be El Tesoro 70th Anniversario Extra Anejo...priced anywhere between $150-$250 a bottle....IF YOU CAN FIND IT!

Keep in mind that extra anejos have a woody component that can often overpower the remaining agave flavor after prolonged aging. If you want a lot of agave flavor, but a smooth finish, I would recommend sticking with a reposado or regular anejo. As far as the vanilla and caramel taste, Clase Azul repo definitely has that, but you can't go wrong with Casa Noble repo or anejo either. I would personally go with CNA.
