Default Tijuana Tequila expo eleven

This past sunday oct.16 I was in baja & attended Tequila expo eleven.
I had a good time tasting Tequila, eating mexican food, & enjoyed A Montecristo rudo, & watched folkorico dances.
Got some good deals on someTequila bottles, like Esperanto repo,Azul talavera,
& Arrette blanco suave. this was my first Tequila expo, hope all of the other
expos will be as good as this expo.
Did any of you Tequileros or tequileras attended this event?
If you did I would like to know what you guys taught about it?
To me the best tasting tequila there was CHINACO. must of had at least 10 samples of Anejo!

I was there on friday. I have been going to this event in Tijuana since 2005, and I have to say that this years was a big disappointment as far as quality tequilas are concerned. There were only two brands that I found that totally rocked; Volcan de Mi Tierra and Arette. Everything else was overly sweet jive or crap in fancy bottles. I was not diggin' Chinaco as it was chilled, and it did not taste like Chinaco. That brand used to be one of the best EVER! Now? Its just jive!

45, I agree with you on Volcan de mi Tierra, I really liked their Blanco! And of course Arette is always being a great Tequila to taste!! BTW, did You or Ray ended up picking up the Old Skool bottle of Gran Clase from Jose?? I ended up buying 3 of those.

No Gran Clase para mi, yo no tengo dinero !!!! as that was a smokin deal for that juice, but Ray did get the other bottle, so I'm stoked for him. besides he'd open it way before I would and I'll get a taste when he does

yeah, I'm really diggin the Volcan blanco!!

Up to a couple of years ago, it was almost twice the size with a lot more brands and stores with some really good and vintage juice, as well as a lot more great food. 2 and 3 years ago, the turn out was much less than expected and was not "worth it" for many of those brands. there was a booth from Oaxaca that sold great mezcal, mole and queso, but they haven't been there either. no coconut bars or pulque either

Would love to read about prices - I have heard of this Volcan de Mi Tierra - I have seen Mi Tierra but is that the same thing?

Did anyone take pics? How does one get on the mailing list for this event?

sorry, no pics. my crapberry died 5 minutes after we got there. no, Volcan de mi Tierra is not the same as Mi Tierra. I paid $70mx for that bottle and $100mx for Arette blanco.

Gracias Pedro, I'd love to swing by when I get the time!
