I guess I just don't get this "filtering out the color" thing that they are attempting to bring to market. I personally feel that it is nothing more than a gimmicky attempt to sell to the US consumer. It's a shame because I have always enjoyed DJ's tequilas however, I believe as of late they may have slipped a notch or two in quality. Just my .02 cents worth...

So I've just noticed that this new DJ has made tequila.net's best of the best awards for anejos. So this has gotten me wondering, has anyone else tried it and what they think? I mean if it made tequila.net's best list for 2011 it has to be worth something, no? :-) Anyone got some thoughts, Mr Agave? I'm curious now, as before I was a bit skeptical. Thanks for any replies.

I've tried it too, and am less than impressed. It comes across with a candy-sweetness that just doesn't fit with my ideas for anejos. There is little that is complex or memorable. Going to taste it a couple more times before reviewing it.

I sampled it when it was first coming out, but it was only a small sample out of a plastic cup that the liquor rep had, but in the past few days I was lucky enough to get a bottle as a gift, I plan on revisiting it with a proper glass. I do remember enjoying the sample, but also not thinking it was anything life changing. I will say DJ Repo has always had a special place in my Corazón.

I thought it was interesting. More fruity than the standard anejo whic I find to be on the woody side. I also thought it was smoother than the standard anejo with less burn.
For the right price I would pick a bottle up, but $72 is not the right price. |

There are always surprises in the tasting competition, and it definitely stands out when tasting against other añejos. I can tell you that it was more favored by the women judges. I personally like my añejos with color, and I get this unique smell and flavor from it, kind of reminds me of play-dough.

I was wondering what you guys thought about DJ anejo claro, If it compares
with Arrete blanco suave? It seems to me that Arrette blanco suave did a very good job of softening there blanco! My question to you guys! did DJ anejo claro try to soften their blanco like Arrete blanco suave? or is it all together a different process? I would appreciate some input from any of you guys who has tried them both! thanks
