Does anybody know if there are any Tequila tasting Clubs in the Denver, Colorado area? Mr. A. you live here in Colorado right? do you know of any? if not, I would like to start one, but don't know how to go about it, any tips? I know of a few people who would probably join one if I do start one.
Thanks for any responses. |

I live by Floridan and Federal in Denver, fairly close to CHAMA, and that's about the only tequila bar I've been to in Denver. I've heard about the Tequila tastings on tuesdays and I went to my first tequila dinner at CHAMA on July 31st. I just couldn't pass up the Herradura Selection Suprema that was part of the dinner
. Unfortunately, I won't be able to go to the tequila tastings there for the next couple of weeks, I am going to a baseball game this tuesday, and next tuesday I am going to see the Mexican Soccer team play a friendly match with Colombia's team at Dick's Sportings Good Center. However, I have plans to have my own tequila tasting night tonight, since I can't make it in tomorrow ![]() I was just wondering, how does a tasting club work? does everybody pitch in a few dollars to buy the tequila we will be tastings? or do different members of the club bring a bottle every so often? I guess there is quite a few ways it could work, how do you guys run your tequila tasting clubs? |

wll thankfully, i have developed a good relatioship with various distributors, and reps from various brands, which all generously have given me a couple of bottles, which will hold us over for about 6 months, and so for now we taste those bottles it's a good way to start, and i have also developed a close relationship with various local restaurant owners and managers, which will be working with me on organizing tasting seminars and dinners, so my recommendation to you is to , ask, just ask, your local restaurants mangers, email tequila distilleries and distributers, let them know what your putting together, and that you are seeking sponsorship, they MIGHT be willing to help you out.But we too, will be chipping in money from now until we run out of bottles, and we will be purchasing some, oh yeah , and another thing, talk to local liquor store owners or managers, let them know about your tasting group and alot of the times they might offer you the wholesale price per bottle, it'll save you a couple of bucks.... buena suerte

Sponsors are definitely key to helpinga tasting group. Personally, I have not gone and asked anyone for sponsorship. All the sponsors we have asked me what they can do to help. I just did not feel comfortable asking people I did not know to sponsor. As for charging, we do charge a fee at each tasting that pays for bottles if needed and the rest goes to charity and other local causes. All of it really depends on what you want your group to be. When I started the group I thought it would just be close friends but now I feel I have siply expanded my group of friends. If you keep everyone informed of what you are doing and stay honest you should be fine. Just let your members and sponsors know what you are doing and why. If you would like a more indepth history of how the group got started please visit our website. It is under construction but has a lot of helpful information already up on it.

I was at the Spirits of Mexico dinner on the 31st, and then the VIP party and grand opening of Tambien on Wednesday and Friday. Good times.
I would be interested in the club and will help however I can, but I have my hands pretty full right now. Maybe we can meet at Chama one night and throw some ideas together. |

yeah, defenetely. Just say the night and I can make it there, except for tomororw (Tuesday, August 7th) night. I had my own tequila testing night at CHAMA tonight and it was awsome! I know CHAMA is rated as the best place to be a regular in Denver, CO, and they defenetely proved it. Anyway, tuesday I am going to a Rockies game and I won't be going to CHAMA for their tequila tasting night. but I can go any other night.
I have been talking to some friends and we defenetely want to have our first tequila testing meeting (or whatever they are called) sometime this month, even if I have to buy the bottles myself. I would defenetely like to do what Tequila Joe does and give all the profits to charity. I think I can defenetely bring five to seven friends to the first one, but I think the more the better, I hope this starts growing. Maybe eventually we can start organizing a big tequila event with people from Rosco's club in Dallas and Tequila Joe's in California. I know, I know, I am probably getting ahead of myself, but this is how exited I am about it .

Maybe we can set up a few meetings with all of us. We can all meet in Colorado. Then all meet another time in Dallas. Followed by all meeting in CA. Hopefully one day we can all plan a meeting together. As for now, I will let you all know when I am in either of these places.

this sounds awesome, it would be nice to actually speak face to face, and really exchange the wealth of information that we all can contribute from, let's get together adn we can map something out, for maybe sometime in mid 2008, after the Spirits of Mexico and the Agave.net invitational, it would be neat...
