Default Los Abuelos vs Fortaleza

I know these are the same, but I noticed something while looking through the reviews section. These are both listed in the review section under their respective names, but the ratings are lower on the Fortaleza, and it doesn't have as many reviews. I know you guys love this juice (I hope to get my hands on some eventually), so it doesn't seem fair for them to be rated differently. Maybe you should jump on and give some love to the Fortaleza listings.

The ratings (and reading posts on the forum) have been a huge help to me , so I just wanted to mention the difference. I would hate for someone to miss out on something good!

38% and 40% alcohol. I guess everyone dislikes that extra 2% of heat.

Los Abuelos listings have been up a couple of years more than the Fortaleza, but you're right, give Fortaleza some love.

Life is not complete until you try the Fortaleza Blanco. The repo and anejo are good, but there is something special about the blanco. Smooth with a hint of vanilla or caramel, not just with the first smell. The taste brings it on. A definite one to try. They just started to bring it to Oregon.

Darin-I am not sure where you get this from- but I was given a Los Abuelos Repo Lot 5 (purchased in Mexico) that has a Mexican Tax Stamp, and it has 40% Alcohol.

I realize that the "purchased in Mexico" and Mexican Tax Stamp are redundant; I included "both" so that there is no confusion.

I should check mine, I assumed that the Mexico version is 38%. But now that I think about it, all of my Los Abuelos came from the US before the name changed, so they will all be 40%. I can't remember if I've ever brought any back from Mexico or not.

I have a Mexican one too - L-08 (Lot 8, I guess) and it is a rich and delicious blanco at 40%... yum!

You guys talk about 38 vs 40% while the rest of us admire from afar. Maybe next week I can get a CA store to ship me some. I would take either

Everyone was calling the blanco "Tequila Crack" for a while so I tried it and as an Anejo drinker was not impressed. The Anejo on the other hand is outstanding and is the only tequila so far that I can describe as tasting like wet cement. I never understood that saying (wet cement and how that could taste good) until I tried Fortaleza Anejo. Forteleza and Ocho are the two brands that are breaking my heart by not being available for purchase in Hawaii (except at one Tequila bar).

As a blanco drinker though, it IS "Tequila Crack". I certainly appreciate the other expressions. This summer I got to taste the reposado for the first time and the bottle I ended up with was the Lot 5 that everyone has treasured. I measure it out in small pours when I drink it, try to make it last till I can obtain another.
