Default Patron Silver

Hey everyone, new here, and new to drinking tequila. Now i'm looking for a patron silver and was wondering if anyone had any input on places to buy, maybe online for a decent price. I'm not sure how much to pay, but in my local stores the price of it looked upwards of $100, but maybe I was looking at the wrong thing. If anyone could give me a place to buy it online at a good price or tell me how much i should be paying in a local store that would be great!

So let us know where you are located and why you are looking at Patron specifically. Hard to believe it would sell for upwards of $100 but I guess anything is possible. Online prices for 750ml bottles run $35-40 in the US.

That said if you are a real newb some can chip in with alternatives to Patron that may be available in your market at a decent price.

That had to be the 'Gran Patron' Platinum that you were looking at for that $100 price tag. Also IMHO it is a highly overated tequila for that price as well! Regular Patron Silver usually runs between $32-$39 per bottle. Let us know where you are located so we may suggest at least a couple of hundred other tequilas (if not more) that are much better than Patron Silver for at least equal to or less than half the price! One brand that is usually pretty readily available is El Tesoro de Don Felipe Platinum which ranges between $32-$36 per bottle and will blow anything by Patron "out of the water!" Another less expensive($18-$24) blanco would be Espolon.....still better than Patron! There are many, many other choices as well! I am sure that others here on this forum would be willing to chime in on this subject because to most of us, Patron is nothing more than an overpriced, sub-par product that has a multi million dollar marketing budget to help it sell. Good luck Tequilanewb!

I received a bottle of Gran Patron Platinum as a gift - which was a nice gesture as the person didn't know anything about tequila. Browsing for tequila's Don Abraham was suggested as a much better tequila than the Gran Patron. I have tried both with several people and the Don Abraham at $30 per bottle was consistently chosen as the better tequila.

I have to be pretty desperate to drink Patron - yes it has happened, but it is only a choice of last resort.

Robert

If the choice is between patron silver or nothing, I choose the nothing.

Seriously...

Water with lemon holds more appeal to me.

One fact about Patron that few people realize is that half of the "batch" comes from the tahona... I dare some of you to do a blind tasting of Patron vs. your favorite blanco... I am betting that you will be surprised at the results.

Patron just has a bad rep... YMMV.

Ok, you've got a deal... I will borrow some patron silver and have my girlfriend pour it next to some Casa Noble, Trago, and Fortaleza blancos... I will blindfold myself and should I choose the Patron over the rest of them, I will ask her to pull the lever and send me beneath the gallows pole. Snap! .

Not really, but I'll be damned anyway

Default Patron

Someone gave me a bottle of Patron Anejo as a gift, I have to agree with many of the other posters here, Patron is more expensive than it is worth.
As for Blancos, I never really go there, but I'm willing to bet Patron Silver is Over priced there as well.

WOW! thems fighting words..

Poor Patron has got a bad rap because its so popular. I was on this bandwagon too..

However, Patron represents 100% agave tequila, they incorporate some old techniques I did not know about till I met their master distiller...

Its still not my favorite, but I appreciate the 100% agave aspect of it. Patron's popularity has given tequila the surge in popularity it deserves... As much as I WANT to be a snob, I need to respect what it has done.

That being said, I will drink their blanco but their anejo and reop are not for me...
