Default Antigua Cruz Reposado

I did a search and didn't see this brand mentioned... has anyone here tried it? What did you think?

The local liquor store was saying good things about it, but I don't know enough to know whether the guy was serious or just trying to move dusty product.

You didn't mention if he was trying to sell you the Blanco, Repo or Anejo and at what price. I personally do not have a lot of experience with that particular juice however I have tried the blanco. IMHO...from what I can remember it was a little too light on the agave and it was much too sweet for my palate. When I say sweet I mean "sugary sweet"....not to be confused with the natural agave sweetness of many other tequilas ie: ET, CN, 7L etc. to name a few. Also Antigua Cruzs' NOM is 1406...the makers of the El Charro's 100% line and they also produce a lot of mixtos and ready to drink cocktails, etc. I have the entire El Charro line up at my bar and think that they are all decent tequilas however the El Charro blanco and the Antigua blanco have two entirely different flavor profiles. If the price is right it may be a decent 100% margarita mixer option? If you try it out let us know your opinion.
Check out the T.net link for this NOM.

Whoops... I was shopping for Reposado. The Antigua Cruz Reposado was $30 for 750ml. The Anejo was about $40, but that gets close to some of the favorite Tequilas I read about here (e.g. Corzo Anejo @ ~$50/750ml)

I've always enjoyed the taste of tequila, but never got serious about it beyond the occasional shots and margs. Reposado and Anejo Tequilas seem to be more along the lines of what I like about tequila, but I'm still discovering, learning, etc.

Totally tequila:

I agree, EL Charro is a pretty decent line. I always have their line handy at home... At $17 a bottle for repo and blanco, cant go wrong!

Really do want to try Antigua

Yeah Pina that $17 was the original price but has now dropped to as low as $14.99 in certain retail stores down here in Fla. At that price I won't hesitate to use it in a margarita or in these tough economic times as a "budget" sipper.

I did a tasting of Antigua Cruz about a month ago here in Atl. I thought the whole line was sweeter than I would have liked. It was the sugary sweet too like Totally said. I liked the repo the best since it lacked the sweetness of the blanco and anejo.

El Charro Update: I found a store locally that was selling the new label 750 El Charro blanco & repo for $9.99! But wait....the best part is that all the bottles had this bottle neck tag on them offering a $5.00 mail-in rebate on top of the sale price! Are you kidding me? $4.99 per bottle after the rebate?? Good thing the tag stated "one rebate per household" or else I might have cleaned out the entire shelf! I grabbed 3 bottles each of the blanco & repo anyway. I'll use them to make the copius amounts of 'House Margaritas' at my typically wacky...right on the egde of losing control Tiki parties!

El Charro Update Numero Dos:

Tower Package is running the Blanco and Repo for 11.99 this month, $2 off their normally good price. You'll need a tower card but they're free. I'll finally be making the plunge

One of us will be featured on one of those crazy Coupon Cutting shows some day, walking out with carts of Tequila on double coupon day, getting 1000's of dollars worth of tequila for 9 bucks.

I haven't seen anything under $10 in my neck of the woods, that is awesome.
