Default Glasses...Drinkware

Ok...what do you guys drink your juice out of? I have a set of Riedel tasting glasses for the good stuff and I also have a pretty good sized shot glass collection for the shootin stuff.

Give me some opinions on your glass of choice?

Gregg

Personally I use the Reidels most often.
However I also like mini-snifters, especially the one I got from Mexico made from hand-blown glass and the traditional Mexican cabillito glass

I just use your typical brandy sniffer's. They work fine for me and I have no complaints, and they are also very cheap to replace if I happen to break one. I haven't tried a reidel glass, but I'm not even sure if they are worth the cost even though they are considered the standard glass for tequila.

I have these small stemware type glasses that look just like a miniature wine glass and hold just shy of what a shot glass filled to the line would hold.
I also have a double size caballito glass for when I'm serious.

Currently I am using Riedel glasses - not the Ouverture Tequila glasses which although I like, they seem to be a bit tall which makes them somewhat prone to tipping for me. I use the Riedel Ouverture Bourbon glasses. They are just a bit wider than the tequila glasses and have a much shorter stem.

I would go with what you enjoy whether that is looks, taste (although I am not sure I can tell any difference in taste when drinking from different glasses), price or whatever.

Reidels are nice but for me they are costly and break way too easily. Personally my glass of choice is a jumbo oversized snifter. It is very low to the ground, doesn't tip and I find that I can really give the spirit a good swirl to open up the aromas and flavors. I do however like to occasionally sip from a nice tall, heavy, hand blown Mexican caballito. I have to agree with Robert in not really noticing that much difference if any, in taste from glass to glass.

The glassware I buy in Mexico. Small snifter type, with a glass cactus in the center are my favorite. Since I never measure, when I've poured to the top of the cactus tells me I've got a good portion.

Mine are what look like champagne snifters. They're cheap and work great. It's the juice within that I'm really after anyway.

I have a few caballito's around but I seldom use them anymore. Snifters all the way. We'll buy tequila specially for making margaritas (and partly because we're not great at making them and partly because we'd rather sip) and we'll end up sipping it instead. (Enter El Ultimo Agave reposado!)

Cheap caballitos, they do the job fine and if I break one, who cares.

I have a couple of shot glasses with agaves blown into the bottom, the real thick glass with all the bubbles and the green rim, neighbor brought them to me from Mexico. I'll use them now and again.
