Crap, well I still have 1/2-a-bottle of repo reserva left. One of my very favorite sippers. I'll have to sip even slower....

Somebody asked 1921 on Facebook - "Why did you change from NOM 1079 to 1535?"

1921 replied on March 10th: "It was a decision made taking many factors into consideration, and that will net us better quality control. The new distillery is top notch."
They go on to post pictures of the new facility in Arandas - and it does look new and very modern.

If I am able to scoop any of the NOM 1079 I certainly will, but sounds like the NOM 1535 doesn't make the cut.

Enjoy your Reserva while you can, PaleRider. 1921 is never going to be the same.

You might like it better (new 1921) I just happen to like the old nom 1921 better. I have only tried the new blanco. Give it a try and report back

I tried the new Anejo while in Vegas. I liked it but thought it lacked the character the Reserve had.
I would buy it if I could, but I don't consider it a step up taste-wise

I've only tasted the new blanco. I have some new anejo but I heard there is no new repo yet. Kinda strange that they'd have the anejo but not the repo, huh?

Really strange, let me know what you think of the new nom. I know the blanco was a
favorite of yours.

We have to go to Guadalajara this coming week. I'll check it out with the main retailers in Tlaquepaque and let everyone know what is available close to the source. I am also interested to see if the alcohol is being reduced in the new 1921 products coming out of Arandas.

Well, for now, I'm still finding 1079 product on the shelves and I'm glad to do so. I bought a bottle of the repo and blanco just recently. Excellent! I guess these are treasure bottles now.

BTW, they are still making the Crema, and it tastes the same but I didn't think there would be much taste difference considering there probably isn't much tequila in there. I would try the new one if the price came down a bit, I did try the regular repo last year and while it was good, I didn't think it was worth the price, I can now get Casa Noble repo for a little less than 1921 and their repo blows it away.
