A similar story to the Maestro Dobel Diamond from Cuervo, blending and removing the color. Blagave, have you tried them side by side? Similarities?

I dug up some info on this brand and it is quite interesting. The guy who started Casa Dragones is Bob Pittman who started MTV and also AOL. Bob partnered up with the first woman "Master Tequilera", Bertha Gonzalez Nieves head of Jose Curevo at the time to produce the tequila. Gonzalez choose a lowland property for the Agave, due to the volcanic rich in mineral soil, which Gonzales says produces very sweet and savory Agaves. Gonzales says it took over a year to find the proper mix of blanco / anejo and it was only perfected when she coaxed a master distiller out of retirement to fine tune the tequila. The tequila is charcoal filtered to remove the color.

No..... haven't done a side by side between the two......I don't have a bottle of the Casa Dragones, just got to sample it. Not sure I would spend the $250 bucks on a bottle either.
I still have an almost full bottle of the Maestro Dobel....I really did not care for it, but I need to go back and try the Maestro again.

I would find it pretty hard to part with that much cash for a blended tequila. If the juice is considered so good, why don't offer it as blancos, reposados and anejos?

Well got to try It and I personally felt it was very disappointing. For those of you that are into fiery tequilas with a lot of bite, this might be up your ally. Presentation Of product and taste this shouldn't be priced more than 50-60 a bottle. I personally won't sell a drop of it. For the price ihave far better tequilas on the bar. For a hybrid I find the maestro much more enjoyable.

I had a completely different experience. As i said before, I am not a big blanco drinker and I found the Casa Dragones unlike the usual blanco bite....very interesting the difference in tastes. I do agree that it is way over priced.

I just feel there is no balance to the tequila, especially for being market as a sipping Tequila. Its real in your face up front and no longevity on the finish. What little character it has falls off the minute you swallow it. My guess due to using " new oak" barrells instead of the traditional Bourbon, Cognac, sherry etc... I don't understand the concept of using new wood, and I'm curious with the light body, how long the anejo they blend in spends in the barrel.
I still say overall in price, presentation and quality of product... 2 thumbs down.
