Hey, just registered and would like some advice. But first, a little back-story...
I travelled to Mexico in the summer of 2007, where I first experienced Tequila (I was 17, and the Tequila I tried had been brewed in a Mexican's back yard... it nearly blew my head off!). Upon returning home to the United Kingdom, I had fallen in love with it. So when I became of the legal age to drink (18 over here), I wanted more! But I live in the UK, which is a problem for anyone who likes tequila. So, where can I find tequila (keeping in mind my student (read: poor) status) in the UK? Which ones should I aim to try and buy? My staple Tequila at the moment is Jose Cuervo, and as I browsed these forum I came across a particular opinion on it (you guys really hate it!). Jose Cuervo (Reposado and Blanco) is readily available, you see Sauza Tequila Blanco in some supermarkets and Tequila Gold Sierra in others. This is literally it! Many thanks, Zen |

one of the best tequila bars I have been is in your backyard....Navajo Joe on King Street. They have a really nice selection for you to get your feet wet on. The food is also very good. |

sogno: Probably not racilla, as I travelled from Mexico City to Cancun via Oaxaco, Puebla, Palenque, etc. Can't remember for the life of me where the fiesta was that I tried it... There was a bull costume covered in fireworks that men chased small children (and drunken teenagers...
) around in. Ring any bells? And yes, Tequila is expensive over here... about twice as expensive as vodka ![]() blagave: Well... I may have found a venue for my 21st! Thanks! |

welcome aboard, you are in the right place.
There is a pretty strong Tequila movement in the UK and the last time I was in Mexico we met a bar manager from UK. The bar is called the Green and Red Cantina Green & Red Mexican Restaurant and Late Night Bar This place looks like they have a excellent selection and if you ask for Steffin tell him wichie13 sent ya and he'll steer ya in the right direction.(Hes the guy with the big crazy hair) Its in London. Tequila Ocho I think should be readily available and is created and imported by Tomas Estes, Ambassador of Tequila to Europe. ( A little pricey though) These guys sell good tequila in UK Whisky Shop In The Heart Of Central London : The Whisky Exchange They look like they have some good brands, 1921, cazadores(lower end/mass produced but still good IMHO, Tapatio, aha toro, Arette, chinaco, Don Fulano, El Tesoro, and Siete Leguas to name just a few they carry that I consider excellent. I say brands because I con sider the Blanco, Reposado, and Anejo all good from the above list. I feel your pain though, and really after looking at the available tequila at the whisky exchange think I "could be" worse off in Canada, but luckily I travel a bit and have some good friends in good Tequila places!

Looking at those prices I thought wow, pretty competitive with what I pay here and I'm in Southern California...
Then I realized that isn't a dollar sign in front of those numbers. £1 GBP = $1.60 at the moment. I feel for ya.
