Default Gift recommendation

Hi there,

i'm looking for a good tequila (price range ~40$) as a present for my girl friend, and as i'm more the gin type i have no idea which one to get.
she prefers a margarita or enjoys it pure.
i was looking around and found don julio or herradura, are these good to drink pure or for a maragrita. and which one of these, anejo, reposado, or a completely diffrent one?

thanx in advance

Hmmm . . . do you know what tequila she does like? You'll find half the people here would recommend Herradura blanco over Don Julio but the other half would disagree. DJB is a bit harsh for my tastes.

If she prefers a more smokey flavor (oak) and less green (agave) then go for the anejo and either of the two you're considering will do.

Of those two (Herradura and Don Julio), I presonally would be happy with a gift of either..

IMHO, both lines Anejos are great offerings. Not too big a fan of Herradura blanco though

Well at least your girfriend has the the knowlwdge to pick out the fake.....that being the JC Classico Blanco....which in case you weren't aware, is classified as a 'mixto' or mixed tequila which contains only 51% agave. The rest of the bottle may contain any number of ingredients? You had mentioned the Don Julio and Herradurra lines were available to you. IMHO, the DJ Repo is a very nice sipping tequila and if you want to use it as a 100% mixer, it will take your margarita's to a new level. It can be a bit pricey to use for mixing but you will definetely score a ton of points with your girl! Herradura Repo has a much 'smokier' flavor to it and although it is tasty served neat, it can slightly overpower as a mixer....unless you are into that heavier smoke when mixing. Good luck and let us know how you make out!

You guys, you're missing the mark here...

He's not a Tequila guy so he needs to show he's trying.

She likes 100% agave but not super top shelf so you don't want to blow her away with really good stuff.

You need a pretty bottle...

Buy her a couple Reidels and look sweet, she'll love it.

Its difficult to argue with logic like this.
