Default Triple-Distilled Tequilas

In general, triple-distilled tequilas are usually more refined with cleaner flavors, a smoother bouquet and less impurities whereas double-distilled tequilas have a lot of tradition, agave flavor and complexity.

Please post any triple-distilled tequilas you are aware of so we can all come back here for easy referencing. Be sure to include whether or not it's blanco, reposado or anejo since some brands utilize both distillation methods for different ages.

Here are a few tequilas that are triple-distilled:

901 Silver
Acumbaro Plata
Casa Noble (Entire Line)
Corralejo Reposado
Corzo (Entire Line)
Don Eduardo Silver
El Charro (Entire Line)
El Diamente Del Cielo (Entire Line)
Gran Centenario Plata
Gran Patron Platinum
Inocente Platinum
Milagro (Entire Line)
Porfidio Plata
Sauza Tres Generaciones (Entire Line)
Tres Manos Anejo

I was just thinking about this this morning.

So far I have not met a triple that I like better than a double. I like Corralejo reposado, for instance, but I really DIS-like the 3D version. I was trying to figure out why Milagro seems to be missing a lot of what I like. I got a bottle of the Select Barrel Repo as a gift and I'm finding it too alcohol-ish. I was not aware that the whole line was triple. That explains a lot. Of all the Milagro I've tasted so far it's the blanco on ice I like the best.

I think the triple distilling takes away too much of the agave flavor and other artifacts that I like, and replaces it with more of an alcohol essence. I don't find it smoother -- to me the 3Ds are too hot.

True palerider... in my opinion, double distilled, highlands tequila is perfection. but casa noble is triple distilled, lowlands tequila and im really into that too. its not a clear cut decision, but for the most part highlands, double distilled wins the battle for me.

I've never tasted any tequila that tasted better on ice, or even cold for that matter. For me ice can make a tequila that I really like undrinkable. Just a personal preference and my .02 worth. Another good list idea chefrob. Double distilled tequilas vs triple. It could be helpful by compairing which types you know you like by area and distillation and clue you as to which related tequilas you might like to try next instead of just a stab in the dark.

Looking at the list, I'd have to say I prefer the doubles over triples.

I purchased a bottle of Inocente Platinum last night, so did a search here on the forum for it, and found this thread. Very interesting.

I have tried several of the products listed, and the triple-d explains a lot now in retrospect...with, I think, two exceptions.

Casa Noble has incredible flavor, yet it is refined. I'm guessing they get most of that flavor from the new French white oak barrels they use. That probably makes up for what might be lost in the triple-d.

Inocente Platinum (purchased last night) is also made at 1137 La Cofradia (like CN), and it has a lot of flavor IMO. It is quite similar to CNC, but sweeter. It is not hot or burning at all, so it seems that 1137 LC has figured out something with triple-d that allows them to retain some flavor and reduce the alcohol burn. I can recommend Inocente to those who are curious.

I was told by Pepe Hermosillo that the third distillation that CN uses (and probably Inocente) is much more like a filteration process.
