Smile Tequila (mis)informational article

Agave Nectar from Hawaii? I've always thought that the south side of the big Island would be good for growing Agave as it is hot and dry with rich volcanic soil but I didn't think anyone was growing it. I did a quick google search and couldn't find any so I'm wondering what she is reffering to?

Hey Joe,
And to think all this time I have been misinformed about the aging process of tequila...
I am so glad that the "mixologist" cleared things up for me!

Quote from article:
… With tequila, you’re supposed to taste the oak. It’s aged—depending on whether you’re tasting a blanco, reposado or anejo. Reposado’s are aged more than a year. Anejo’s no more than two years. Blanco’s six months. So you should taste the oak and hints of vanilla and spice.

Ok, totally off the subject. While I do live in LA and am NOT its biggest fan (mostly because of our lack of rain and lack of real seasons) I get tired of hearing the same old adage 'Everyone in LA wants to be seen' Boo!!! Not true at all.

If you want to be seen, go to Hyde lounge, or the Ivy, or any other place that u see on TMZ. But me being a resident of LA, I can say there are plenty of places to go to and not 'be seen'. Theres also plenty of people who live here and dont want to 'be seen'

While LA may not be my favorite city, its diversity as far as culture, entertainment, neighborhoods, or even tequila, is almost unmatched in any other american city (except maybe Chicago, and NYC). LA has some of the best dive bars, and theres a lot of great people here, just like there is anywhere else.

Isnt promoting yourself in a magazine 'being seen'?

One last thing, having worked in Beverly Hills for over two years, I can honestly say I have never seen a dive bar in Beverly Hills.

Between the hawaiian agave nectar and the dive bars in beverly hills, whats next? Unicorns on Venice beach? And why was she surprised that people in the mexican restaurant industry people wanted to try margaritas? Doesnt she know its been the most popular cocktail in america for some years now?

thnx, just had to get that ff my chest. As always IMHO.

I do agree with this comment though.....

But here’s the thing: Americans have been introduced to Americanized tequila. So, that’s Patrón, with all its marketing schemes to lure you in, but it has absolutely no flavor. And tequila’s not supposed to be flavorless
someone from the forum must of been in her bar talking to her.

Early on, when I first started my tequilla journey I used to believe that Patron was a top shelf tequila. Even to this day my wife likes her Patron Silver served chilled in a caballito so I always keep a bottle on hand. All you married guys will admit that it is a smart move on my part, agreed? Obviously as my taste has expanded, I have branched out and have found an enormous selection of fantastic tequilas that have squashed the taste of the "Patron Marketing Empire." That doesn't mean that Patron all of a sudden became a tasteless tequila. I still carry the silver, repo, & anejo on my tequila bar menu and will serve it to any guest that enjoys the taste. Every once and awile I will sip on the anejo and IMHO it still has a premium agave taste......for the price it better!

I love when we sit around and type about Patron...lol.

I have found the silver recently on sale for 32.99 and for the price, that is not too bad. It does lack in flavor compared to other brands but it is still considered by me to be an average 100% agave tequila.

I would much rather spend my money on smaller batch companies that take pride in the juice instead of pride of the name.
