I know its expensive...probably the 350-500.00 price range. I've never seen it available locally. I couldnt ever shell that much out on a bottle. But...its a 7 year anejo. I've never tasted anything with that much age. I would imagine it loses quite a bit of agave flavor but couldnt be for sure.

Sometimes you have to wonder...where do you draw the line when it comes to aging tequila? I've heard of a 10 or 11 year anejo awhile back...I'm not saying the taste, time put into making it, and presentation arent amazing...but it seems almost like a new kind of spirit after it undergoes those lenghthy processes.

I've had a handful of Extra Anejos in the 3-4 year categories. Some are great, but I never felt like I was drinking tequila then.

Are you talking about the original stuff or the re-issue stuff Hitime is now selling. I like the original stuff, I have heard the re-issue is good, but not As good.

I think it's the original. The importer is Preiss Imports and I think they have about 30 bottles that they found. I'm trying to convince them to get me a few bottles.

I agree with you on the ageing. I just tried some 25 and 28 year bourbon. It was good, but it lost all the qualities that make a great bourbon.

If its the original, then it is supposed to be great but the reissue is said to be not up to par. Check this thread on Ian's forum Chinaco Emperador [Second Release] - The Mumpsimus Forum
Now if it is original and not too expensive then I'll have to figure out how to get some

It is not the original stuff. They have reissude 300 bottles of 7 year old Chinaco Negro as Chinaco 30th 2nd release. That is the short version of a long story. I do not remember which 2 lots of Negro they aged but they say it was their best two.

I only said I would take one if it was an original, I haven't blindly agreed to anything. But Seth does have a track record for sell off old found stock for cheap (Penca Anejo) so why not show interest and see if all the chips fall into place. We all ready know the tell tale signs thanks to Jim, DP and yourself to tell the difference between the two.

Trust me when I say I would not spend the kind of money they are asking on the re-issue. But I will show my interest at the off chance Seth has found some originals..... I learned my lesson with a JCRF re-issue 95, I will not knowingly reward a company again for trying to squeeze some money out of its customers with gimicks.

In all likelyhood these are re-issues, but if we confirm they are not they will sell fast.
