Cool Chinaco Verde vs Chinaco Blanco

I picked up a bottle of Chinaco Verde on my recent trip to LA (will add it soon to the listings) and tasted it head to head with Chinaco Blanco.

For those of you who haven't seen this bottle, it is a 1L, simple / standard bottle with a stick-on Chinaco label. It is a less expensive version of the blanco, and was created for bars / restaurants to use as a well tequila.

It was a little hotter than the blanco, and seemed to be lacking a little on the flavor comparatively. Still good Tequila for the price, and sits well in a margarita.

Anybody else sample this one yet?

I had a bottle and I would have to agree with you it seemed a bit hotter, but thats going off memory as I haven't had a bottle of the blanco in a while. Are we sure the stuff is a different product between the two bottles? Or that the lot that went into these bottles was a bit hotter then older lots and its the same stuff just cheaper bottling

Quote from importers page on regular blanco.....

Chinaco? Blanco is bottled within 30 days after distillation and delivers a remarkably fresh, clean taste.

Sounds like something to add to the shopping list - at least to try.

Mr. Agave - Did you get it at Ramirez?

Yes, Ramirez. I can't remember if I saw it at W&L Depot or not, but you could call over there and see.

Now thats a drive RJC5XTC, Torrance to East LA!!! Make it worth it! I just drove today to Lahabra from East Hollywood for one bottle. Worth it? Possibly, but I wish I was able to get more.

I don't think I have ever left Ramirez with just one bottle. I usually have a "shopping" list and do a bit of impluse buying and then let Carlos suggest a few - I always go home happy - and that is before opening anything.
