Default Mina del Eden Mezcal in WA state

The reposado made an entrance a couple of months ago in WA state and is available at about a dozen stores in the North end and the Eastside. Last Saturday I made the trek down to the new store on 4th Ave. S. (they demolished the exit from Spokane St. so had to loop around Harbor Island to get back to the store.) to look for a bottle of Herencia Mexicana Anejo and what did I see but numerous bottles of Mina del Eden Blanco and Anejo Mezcal.

While all of these are made by the same distillery, El Zacetecano, they are totally different products taste-wise and in appearance. El Z is more tequila like in presentation and taste and the Mina del Eden has a more artesenal look and smokier taste. I'll have to post the special order numbers later when I get home as the product is not even in the state list of products.

I agree about El Zacatecano. It's good juice, but much more like a tequila than a mezcal.
I hope the Mina del Eden shows up in our local stores, too.

We in Washington may soon find lots of choices, if the bill I-1000 gets on the ballot and passes. http://www.washingtonstatewire.com/h...ze_bonanza.htm
