Are there any suggestions to make a smaller version? My recipe for a normal one is 2 oz. lime juice, 2 oz. Contreau, and 2 oz. Tequila, possibly under one oz of agave nectar if using a blanco.
Cutting that in half does not leave much liquid. Anyways i ran out to the liquor store in CT the other night right before closing, to grab something for my wife, and what it staring me in the face. Clase Azul Repo. Snatched up a bottle, and went on my way. So if anyone in CT area has been wanting to try this tequila I Liquor Depot in New Britain has it. There were 3 375ml bottles and a few larger bottles.

During one of the moves he was offered a very old bottle of tequila.
It says it was bottled in the 1920's and says Tequila Numero Uno J. Rodriguez on it. There is a label on it saying the purchase price is $0.20. It's in near perfect condition with the exception of a slight tear in the bottom right of the label. It has not been opened, and we don't plan on opening it as we do not drink.
We would like to sell it, but have no idea how much it is worth or even where to sell it.

If you could give us some information on the worth of the bottle and possible collectors it would be greatly appreciated.

We can use this thread so that everyone can do their own side-by-side comparisons of comparable Tequilas.

Here's my first:


The color of the two are virtually identical. The scent of the Single Barrel (Barrel #403, Bottle 26/360 "The One") seems a tad bit sweeter, but again they are very close. The CNR had a slightly fuller feel and more of a buttercreme flavor. The CNSBR feels a bit thinner, but keeps the classic Casa Noble flavor. Where the CNR finishes with a mild warmth, the CNSBR ends a bit drier in addition to the pleasant warmth on the tongue.

It's obvious that these two Tequilas are closely related, but there are enough variations to make them stand apart. Though it was hard to pinpoint exactly what without the side-by-side comparision, and it was still tough. I just may have to suffer through it again sometime soon.

It has not been opened and has all the original seals etc. It is a 1968 (that's what it says on the label going over the lid) bottle of Mariachi Tequila. So far I've bought El Tesoro Platinum, Anejo and Paradiso, Casa Noble Reposado, and Asombroso Blanco. All of those have been pretty good, with Asombroso being my least favorite so far. So which brands should I try next, and which should I avoid? The brands we can get in Indiana (minus a few I excluded) are:

Amate, Asombroso, Cabo Wabo, Casa Noble, Chinaco, Cielo, Corazon, Corralejo, Corzo, Don Eduardo, Don Julio, El Mayor, Fina Estampa, Herradura, La Cava Del Mayoral, Milagro and Tezon.

As a rule of thumb, I don't buy booze that's less than $30 a bottle, but I also try to avoid the $100+ bottles. While I'm asking questions, I really love everything I've had from El Tesoro, is it worth seeking out and paying the steep markup on the 70th Anniversary?

There was a Mexican restaurant that was closing down and had a last day special, any shot from an open bottle for $5. Here are the tequilas I had, I'll rank them also:

Patron Gran Burdeos, def the star of the show, without a doubt the smoothest and most flavorful and paying 5 instead of 60, almost felt guilty. I had 2 shots, by the time we were done savoring these beauties they were out :(

Don Julio Real, another ultra smooth no alcohol burn whatsoever. Much different from DJ Anejo which I thought was odd. The regular Anejo has a prominent nutty aftertaste unique to DJ IMO and that was not present, which I liked honestly. There were only two shots left in the bottle that my buddy and I claimed, would have loved some more.

Herradura Suprema, another fantastic xtra Anejo! For taste alone I might have ranked it above the Real but honestly I was expecting alittle more from Herradura. Their Anejo is a definate favorite of mine so I expecting to be blown away here. I had two shots of this before the well went dry.

The rest were very good but not outstanding comparatively, Milagro select anejo, El Tesoro Aneversario (actually I was pretty much in the bag for these 2, wish I could have remembered them more). I also had a couple proven favorites, Casa Noble Anejo & El Mayor Anejo, always solid! I even had cuervo reserva de familia, was not impressed, definitely the bottom of the list.

All in all it was a fantastic opportunity to try some top shelf Tequilas without breaking the piggybank. Would have been over $700 any other day. Definitely a day to remember and a night to forget, lol.

With the factors of quality and price, I'll never run dry. Blanco and Repo would be Asombroso and Anejo would be Herradura. IMO Herredura is smooth and flavorful as many xtra Anejo's I have tried, and a fraction of the price.
