Re: Raicilla products - tried any?
Raicilla has been regulated "legalized" only since 2000. Before this it was all "home made", usually with crude stills and processes, quality varied widely. Now they require standards to produce and bottle. And quality still varies. It is made from several types of agave plants. Around PV they use "Maguey" an agave similar to blue agave (tequila) only green. Farther inland they use a wide leaf variety, lechugia, not sure of spelling. I believe only 14 Municipales all in the state of Jalisco are licensed to produce Raicilla.
I did not know it was imported to US, is there the name of the import company on the bottle bought in San Diego?
Does it say where it was mad?
For years it has been sold as a "health" drink. It is supposed to lower bad cholesterol, raise good cholesterol, help digestion, and it has the lowest "bad" sugar level of any alcohol, so does not produce hangovers.
