Mmmmm... Just discovered Raicilla and brought back to types - one is from El Tuito south of PV toward Barra de Navidad about an hour or so. It's called 7 Amigos and I've not opened it yet. The other I can't remember the name of but it's heavenly and is very very similar to what i was drinking with a couple guys at a palapa in Mismaloya. 38 proof and delicious. It's made from the maguey plant (relative of the century plant, pronounced "mah-GAY") and related to agave. Not sure how much it's regulated but it's only been legal to market and sell in the last couple years and is pretty much unknown outside the PV area.. Even in Barra alot of people didn't know what I was talking about, but in Tenacatita they did (where I bought one bottle). Best luck to find it is in very small mercados. I'm in love with the stuff - slightly sweeter than most tequilas and the flavour is magic.
