Since this seemed to be one of the universal "must have" tequilas, I decided to give it a try.
1 1/2 oz in a mini snifter at room temperature.

It has a good initial agave scent. The first sip has a nice light flavor, agave with a good amount of woody/oak flavor. Very little burn too it, though by the end of the 1.5 oz it added up a little. But it wasnt distracting.

I feel it's a good overall/everyday tequila. I wouldnt put it into my all time favorite list, but since it is reasonably priced, it will someday make it into my collection. $45 in W. Mass.

Tasted 07/30/08 out of a snifter. El Tesoro anjeo was amazing. Now that Ive delved into the world of anejos, I thought it be a good idea to try the anejo of one of my favorite blancos. And I was pleased as punch! I liked that it wasn't too 'syrupy' as I've experienced with some anejos I've tried.

Aroma: Pleasant agave and light caramel tones.
Initial Taste: It's sweet on tip of tongue, but not bitter.
Body: A nice cooked agave, followed by hints of wood, smoke, caramel, and earth.
Finish: A medium heated finish of long duration

El Tesoro is said to be the "finest sipping tequila". I have to agree with that. The Anejo has an excellent agave and oak flavor. The flavors are strong but it's exceptionally smooth. This is truely one of the best.

El Tesoro Anejo NOM 1139 Tasted on 4/26/07 at 5:00pm. I tried this tequila at Zocalo in Sacramento, CA. 1.5 ounces of El Tesoro Anejo ran me $10 and I tasted it in a snifter. With a pale yellow golden color, this tequila has intense aromas of floral, fruit, and earth. Other aromas include moderate caramel and spice followed by mild vanilla. The tequila has a medium-to-oily mouth feel and on the first sip is sweet with mild-to-moderate bitterness. El Tesoro Anejo has intense aromas of earth, floral, and agave followed by moderate notes of fruit. With a long duration of flavor, tastes of mild vanilla, caramel, and smoke bring this tequila to a numbing finish. El Tesoro Anejo has received the rating of 92 points out of 100.
